He was an unwanted third in the makeship. He was eventually rejected and Severus yelled at him to leave. They soon found he did, and in the discovery, found he slept in the closet. They thought he used the couch as he was not allowed in the bedroom unless they wanted him. This devastated Draco and upset Severus. After some time without them being together, the missing mate should have died. Draco, years down the line receives a letter addressed to him in the title he forced Harry to call him asking about her dad. Draco realized this could only be about Harry. Draco is able to track down the home and meet up with Harry and the little girl that had to be his if Harry was still alive. Quote
