Definitely before HBP came out and potentially before OotP) I read a story about Snape who is in love with a muggle woman in London. They go to the opera in one scene and he magics her a dress and opera gloves. I specifically remember the dress you can’t unbutton/zip as it is done up with magic. In the final scene, I think she is long dead and he has kept one of her gloves in a glass case to preserve her perfume. It is very sad! I specifically also remember a description of him as he has aged, as him having a coil of silver hair around his ear. Really hoping this rings bells! I don’t think this website has been searched for google as I have tried several times to google it. Quote
