The pain and injury make him leave the wizarding world for a while not even telling his friends. But the headmaster calls him back to teach DADA. Harry and Snape become friends and later Snape curse his curse. At one point I believe an angry Hermione casts a spell at Harry which makes him suffer more from the curse. That is all I know.
