She is the One

Real life for a second - I'm falling for a girl for a second time, but we've never gone out. Should be interesting. She's making me watch Titanic with her. Just incase anyone wanted to know.

Back to the story. I'm not a huge fan of shit constantly hitting the fan. (Pardon me on that one) But it should be interesting to see how things turn out. My problem is, I don't want to see things end worse than they started, but the just might. Hopefully no one dies.

On the note of Jack not going down on Kayla. There's been a lot of sex we haven't seen, so we don't know how much he has or has not done. I assume that's he's gone down a couple times at least.

For those wondering, yes...Tara is the same age as Jack and Kayla. I thought I stated that before but if it was unclear, I apologize.

I remember doing some digging because I thought it was mentioned that Tara was older. But when I went back I couldn't find any thing about it. I do believe you cleared it up earlier, but thanks for providing clarity again. Edited by thismy

So I didn't miss any new chapters in my absence? Bummer!

My conference went excellently. I was nervous for my presentation, finishing up my powerpoint the afternoon before while in the audience, but all went well and I got lots of compliments and requests for the slides from several teams. I met and handed my business card to a couple of general manager and one director of baseball operations, and today was sending out proposed data sales to two teams and a major website.

Delighted everything went well and yeah, we're all still waiting. :)

I'm working as fast as I can on the new chapter, I promise :) This is going to be another 'big' chapter, with lots of major plot points. I'm trying to get as much writing in per day as I can and I want to have it done by the end of this week (though that is kind of wishful thinking). Also...not to spoil anything, but writing this more dark, depressing side of Jack and company takes a lot out of me so I have to work slowly so I don't end up burning myself out. It's an emotional thing but I promise that I am going as fast as I can :)

Actually, I'm really looking forward to the next couple 'dark' chapters. There's been so much going on below the surface that it has to erupt soon. Just take your time.

Hey everyone!

Quick little message, a bit more serious than you're probably used to, but it's something I just wanted to say.

A few days ago, I received a private message excitedly asking me when I was going to put rape in my story. I'll just answer them here so everyone else can see the answer: I'm not going to. This is not because I think rape doesn't exist or that it shouldn't be include in stories...it just won't be in mine. I could list of many reasons (one of the main ones being that it brings back some very painful memories I'd prefer not to delve into) but I think chief among them, just in terms of the story, is that there is no purpose for it.

I once read an author who stated that rape is something that 'happens to women'. It's a plot device to amp up tension and drama, usually with a female, so they can go through a tough time and come out stronger on the other end. To me, there are a billion better ways to do that than to have them go through something so awful. Again, I'm not trying to demean writers who put it in but I feel like there is no place for it in my story and to put it in would go against moral principles I hold myself to, as well as the respect I have for my characters. They are not technically real...but the issue is. And I wouldn't feel comfortable putting my characters through that just for 'character growth' and 'plot development'. It's just something I've never enjoyed reading. Even with great writers, like BashfulScribe, my least favorite parts of their stories are when rape comes in. It's just a personal thing for me, not anyone else.

Sorry to be so dramatic but it's just a personal thing. More positive news soon!

Quick follow up to the previous message: this was not meant to be an attack on anyone. The message was sent to me privately, not here on the forum. I welcome any and all suggestions (seriously, the stuff you guys come up with is AMAZING) but just that particular subject...that's my one big 'no'.

You guys are the best and I love and respect you all. Thank you all so much for being the best fans ever.

I believe that of all topics, rape is one of the most dangerous and painful topics to address. I hold very strong opinions on rape and sexual assault, as well as domestic abuse, because those are things that hit very close to home and effect me personally. I believe that using those for character development is almost always not only a bad idea, but distasteful. Now, I will never discredit someone simply because they used it. That's not fair. Some people may want to use it of write about because they experienced it themselves. I understand this completely. Writing about things like that can be a way to heal and come to terms with them. It might even be nessesary for them. I agree with Jashley. It's something that happens and people should be painfully aware of it. But it very often doesn't hold a place in most stories.

I'm not one for trigger warnings and things like that. I think people in society have gotten too sensitive on some issues, but then we're getting my political beliefs, so I'll avoid that. The point being, I do believe that if you write about it, you should include trigger warnings at the least.

And like Joe Long said, it sounded like the person was expecting it, maybe even a detailed scene. If I came across that, I would most likely vomit at the least.

I am very passionate about this issue, and not only how it affects woman, but how society unfortunately and terribly puts male victims in the dark. People should already remember that they're not alone, and that someone will listen and believe them.

Sorry for getting so up in arms.

Hey everyone! Sorry about the dour mood in the forum the past couple of days. Let's add some cheer, shall we? The next chapter is almost done and should be out in the next few days :)

And underage drinking!

Jack and Kayla's group are such goodie two shoes. Craig's apparently the only one that does any drinking.

I have some booze (and one porn) parties in my story. I'm going to have to add passing some joints around (I never partook, but they were offered). Hmm, how would Hannah act when she's wasted?
