Omega Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 A novel I'd written and posted here is being published. I just finished the long revision process, and I'm going back for cleanup now on sites I'd posted it on, that being here and Tumblr. My contract states I can leave the first 3 chapters, or 10% of the text, whichever is smaller, up on sites as a preview, and I would like to do that here. I just plan to delete chapters 4-31 off of it and leave the first three chapters up. However, I'm pretty sure advertising is against the rules here, and I'd like to know what the kosher way of saying "it got published, so you have to buy it to read the rest" is. Basically, I'm not wanting to break any rules, but I also want to prevent "Where did the rest of it go?" and "When is this being updated?" when it's complete. Thanks so much in advance. Quote
DemonGoddess Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 Hi there, First, congratulations on being published! Which publisher are you with? Second, no, you can't leave any of it up, as it constitutes a teaser. However, you CAN put in your profile that (story title) is now published, move the tumblr link to the spot provided for it, and for your website link, link to your author page at your publisher.
