Im looking for a couple of stories I think were by the same author.

1. First involves shy high school girl who hooks up with artist class mate due to rain. He was originally mad at her for throwing red paint all over his paintings.

2. Second is poor girl called mouse who ends up being a famous writer waiting to turn 18 and move away from evil aunt:uncle

I believe that first one was "Lightning and Watercolors" (or something very close to that). I used to have it in my recommended readings but the link to it is broken so I can guess that it was taken down.
