space captain/doesn't want to get a companion/ falls for observer m/m

I read this awhile ago and I don't even know if it was on this site or not but it was about this space captain who got a notice that he would soon be given his companion/husband/mate whatever. He doesn't want them so he makes a plee to whoever organizes these matches and they send someone to observe him to see if he really should not have a companion. He and the observer hate eachother but there is mutual lust and they start to get frisky with eachother.

Other things I can remember:

-the observer admits that he too has gotten a notice that he would soon be given a match too

-once you get this notice, you can't use the virtual sex machine things

-the observer follows him everywhere and sleeps in his cramped quarters

-the captain's friend (co-captain?) can see their mutual lust (I forget his reaction to it but I think he was determined to stop it)

If you've heard of it or read it PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know what it's called and where I can find it!!!! I REALLY liked this story and still think about it even after probably a year!

I've read that one. I think it's on fictionpress! I think the observer's name was Simon, or something similar.
