squirrelhero Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 Hi, I'm new here and I have a slight issue with adding a story using RTE. After I enter all the descriptive stuff, I get to the text box I type in, but I can't see what I'm typing. I can actually click preview and see what I wrote, but that is annoying. Also, the format, font, and size drop boxes are all blank. I can't really seem to get this to work. I tried uploading too. It, like it says in your FAQ, forgets all my italics, spacing, etc. whenever I upload it. So I publish it to go back and edit it, right? Then I'm back to the text box where I can't see any of the words... help? Quote

I have Windows 8, IE ver.10.0.9200.16519 (Update ver.10.0.3), Java 7 (Update 10?), and I've been trying to use WordPad. I forgot to mention the WordPad thing because that is why it reverts back to wall 'o text. Quote
DemonGoddess Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 Word Pad is an enhanced text editor. In order for this to work for you, you would have to add the html text containers. For example, you want a paragraph, you open the paragraph with <p> and at the end of the paragraph you close it with </p> A line break would be done at the end of the sentence this way: <br /> Open and Libre Office both are open source programs, which give you all the functionality of Word. You might want to download either of 'em. Quote
squirrelhero Posted April 10, 2013 Author Report Posted April 10, 2013 I was afraid I was going to have to use that text format, honestly. I have worked with text editors before and the like... always seemed like a hassle to me, but I will try it out though. Thank you for the reply. Quote
