Member Titles That Display By Default

Recommended Posts

Okay, here's the thing. When an IPB is installed, it has different ranks for how many posts that you have. I know the pips don't show, but that will change here in a bit as well. I can make it so that the graphic for your member group as well as the pips for posting show up at the same time, and will. Anyway, there was a set of custom default member titles already in place here, long before I was ever here. I'm not so crazy about 'em, as they are anime/manga specific, rather than allowing for the fact that there are MANY more fandoms and fandom types that are written about in the archive. So, need some help in devising something that fits better.

Here's the defaults (which we don't use)

Newbie - 0 min posts - 1 pip

Member - 10 min posts - 2 pips

Advanced Member - 30 minimum posts - 3 pips

Current set (dunno how long these have been set up, but it's been quite awhile)

Forum Virgin - 0 minimum posts - 1 pip

Hentai in Training - 50 minimum posts - 2 pips

Hentai - 250 minimum posts - 3 pips

Master Hentai - 500 minimum posts - 4 pips

AFF Forum Slut - 1000 minimum posts - 5 pips <-----(this one irks me, it's offensive)

Proposed (so far)

Forum Virgin - 0 minimum posts

Forum Kisser - 50 minimum posts

Forum Groper - 250 minimum posts

Forum Libertine - 500 minimum posts

Forum Master - 1000 minimum posts

Forum Grand Master - 2000 minimum posts

(we don't need the forum in front of the titles either by the way)

------

In addition to that, I have the ability to create secondary and tertiary pip set to allow for more posting beyond 2000. So, would need rankings accordingly for that as well.

Forum Grand Master (or whatever) 2000 posts (2nd ranking set)

name? 2500 posts

name? 3000 posts

name? 3500 posts

name? 4000 posts

third rank set

name? 5000 posts

name? is 6000 posts

name? is 7000 posts

name? is 8000 posts

name? is 9000 posts

Anyway, what I'm looking for is additional input. For all three sets, if possible.

Damn i hate Start Of Work meetings. I always have the same input: When the documentation is written,i'll write curricula. I'd put a cardboard cutout in the room except that being in there gives me time to play with my notes.

Ahhh, that's the stuff! -_-

Thank you so much, Keith Inc.! That was quite an effort you put out for us up there, and what I've quoted of your post above inspired me to sit here in front of thesaurus.com for three hours to come up with a new way to think about rank titles. The idea's that the descriptive words (the first of the title) denote the newness (or lack thereof) of the poster, and the second word is a term for some sort of writer.

So, I've put them in an order I think might work, in groups of five -- the first five are for the newest folks, next five are middle-ground post-counters, and the last five are for the people that blow the top off the joint. As far as the post counts that'd hypothetically go with these, I'm not married to any parcitular number, so I've left that part unspecified.

Feel free to go nuts and fix tweak this list if you feel this idea's worth building upon, everyone -- and thanks again for all the help and inspiration!

Oh, I like these. :D These are great! Perfect for the forum, after all most of us are writers, yes? :)

I vote for these.

  • 2 weeks later...

So, anyone else with any ideas as for this?

If you're not sure what I'm looking at with having second and third sets of rankings, what that entails is either having different pip sets for those ranks, or increasing the number of pips up to 15, depending on the level of posting.
