I have to agree.

I don't really know why... but I dislike Sakura. Well, I used to. I'm not so sure anymore... she was just annoying as far as I was concerned. She was weak... and annoying... and much too obsessed with Sasuke.

SERIOUSLY. it annoyed the hell out of me, both in the manga and the anime.

to see her ever paired up with sasuke?

I shudder. i don't think sasuke would ever be able to stand how annoying she is. going back into the canon, it's touching and everything how much she cares about sasuke really... stopping him and everything... blah blah blah...

but it's still... annoying.

I never thought about pairing anyone up in Naruto before... until SasuNaru waltzed into my life. And after recently reading this Hyuugacest fic called Rosemary for Rememberance by the Great Sintari ... go. read it now. GO.... i'm a devout follower of Hyuugacest.

I never thought about it before. I was always a Neji/Tenten fan.

Well. so much for that.

I understand what someone said up there about how Neji would never do anything like that with Hinata... and if that were the case than Hinata would be instigator... but things don't have to be "like that"... personally, the reason why i love the pairing is because... well... it's so... innocent. Hinata is innocent. She wouldn't do anything you wouldn't expect her to do--except probably try harder than her best. Neji is a straight, honourable guy (YEAH! THAT'S RIGHT! HE'S STRAIGHT, PEOPLE! STRAIGHT!) ... as a member of the Branch House... he would be the closest one to Hinata-sama... and ay... things just happen really slowly between the both of them. that's the only way you can do it with those two without making either of them go OOC... and it's...

You know, I used to avoid Naruto like the plague since I'm an FMA writer and took one look at the massive fandom then shook my head. Then, on a chance, I read one fic and it was all over. I became a believer . . . in an unusual pairing no less.

I have a weakness, and it is Kakashi/Sakura.

Yeah, I know, no way in hell will it ever be canon, but damned if it doesn't work on paper with a few years of maturity added in. Maybe it's the age difference too, even if it isn't that big of a difference. There's been worse.

Surprisingly, there's some good fic out there for it too. leafy_girl and ronsmyhero come to mind, the later of which put up her stories on here. Surprisingly, most of them stick to canon too, which is always good in my opinion, and well, for some reason, it inspires me enough to want to work on my own. Maybe it's because it takes plotting to make the pairing even semi-plausible since there is no existing subtext to fall back on.

Oh well, my opinion.

I'm weird, but in my head, I just pair up the two guys that are on the teams.

Sasuke/Naruto for example. The kiss just motivated me to further yaoi fangirldom.

Shino/Kiba - Furry coats, 'nuff said.

Neji/Lee - With Neji's somewhat sadistic behavior and Lee's high tolerance for pain, that's just kink there.

Shikamaru/Choji - Barbecue sauce and that was all it took to convert me. XD

There's actual, logical reasoning behind most of these couples, it's just too late in the evening for me to think up any. XD

I've read a few Naruto/Ino stories, I find that I actually like them a lot. I think I prefer Ino to Sakura, for pretty much everything. While I abhor SasuSaku and I'm not a huge fan of NaruSaku, I actually kind of like SasuIno and NaruIno. She's less of a bitch than Sakura in my opinion and I don't mean in obvious behavior. I mean more personality-wise.

There's no way he'd be able to give up that kind of control and let Naruto "best" him. There's no way Sasuke would be uke to Naruto, especially not Naruto.

I definitely agree with you there, the most realistic are probably the equal partnerships. But out of the two, I definitely see Naruto being more likely to be the uke (if it wouldn't be going both ways) because like I said at this point, Sasuke's a weak little boy who really needs to get over himself and I just don't see Naruto that way.

I agree some stories go too far with Naruto as uke, but personally I don't take those seriously. They're funny to me and that's how I enjoy them.

Yup, Icha Icha Paradise wins. I love the fact that he's singularly one of Konoha's best shinobi and it's second biggest pervert. That by far is more appealing than the fact that he just kicks so much ass. ::hums contentedly:: Oh, and the ANBU get up and tattoo is dead sexy.

And as much as some people hate Sakura, I still like her. Maybe I should say that I'm not a huge fan of "normal girls". The majority of normal girls I've encountered are bitches just like Sakura was. The only female friends I have would be classed as very far from the norm, no bitchiness within them. Being 12 is no excuse in my mind. I would have never, 12 or younger, treated anybody the way she treated people (i.e. Naruto, Ino, anyone who wasn't Sasuke).

And really, of course she's normal. From what I've gathered, her life has been pretty much perfect. No having to watch her family get murdered, no being treated like pariah for a reason you don't even know. She gets no slack from me and I really truly can't understand how anyone could have liked her character before the time jump.

Ok, admittedly, I didn't love Sakura off the bat, but I didn't outright hate her either. Like all good characters, she grows. By the time skip ends, most of the flaws you mentioned are non-existant. She acknowledges the others, Naruto and Lee included, and the Sasuke crush is pretty much over. Also, while her past may not have been 'teh twagic' like the boys of team 7, it wasn't perfect either. Remember, she bonded with Ino originaly when bullied over her billboard brow. I think it's a safe bet that just about everyone that didn't fit total normality was bullied in one form or another.

Now, the Sasuke issue.

Since when was it a crime to have a crush? I had crushes at her age, earlier than her age too, but took the Hinata approach to it and ran for cover instead of confronting it like Sakura does. If it's against the law to have a crush in the place and attempt to act on it, I missed the memo.

Ok, now the 'bitchiness'.

Since when was it a crime to have a spine too? I like strong women, literally and figuratively, and Sakura developed both over time. Maybe not as strong as the boys, but it's there and she did in her own way which shows the most over the timeskip. Maybe it does come off as bitchiness, but you know what, I don't care? Alot of my friends are far from normal, and they've been called bitchy too for being smart and opinionated. Maybe I just don't see it because I'm used to it.

Maybe it was wrong of me to call Sakura the most normal person in Naruto. None of the cast are shining examples of normal, pink-haired kunoichi included. No, if anything she's the one most likely not to go crazy, but I could be proven wrong there too eventually.

Now it sounds like your just making excuses for how Sakura behaved at the beginning of the series. There was no excuse for her to treat people like crap all for the sake of this obsessive crush she had on Sasuke.

I had crushes. I didn't dump friends over any crushes and in such a horrible way. I didn't constantly put other people down over any crushes. It's not a crime to act on a crush, while her behavior is seriously irritating and just pitiful, her chasing after Sasuke isn't the bad part (just annoying). It's how she treated Naruto and Ino over this stupid crush.

And the bitchiness, that's not having a spine. That's being a bitch. I have a spine, but I don't go around hurting people, physically or emotionally. You mention friends who are called bitchy for being smart and opinionated, are you sure that's why people call them bitches? Sometimes people try to excuse their behavior by saying "people just don't like strong women". (And don't take this as an insult to your friends, I'm just trying to make a point. I really don't know them so I wouldn't make any assumptions about their level of bitchiness) That's not it at all. My mother is a VERY strong woman and she takes crap from no one, BUT she has never been a bitch. She has never gone around hurting people unnecessarily for ridiculous reasons. Sakura was a bitch at the beginning of the series. You could make a case for her later into the series and after the time jump, but in no way was the way she was at the beginning of the series okay.

I like a lot of pairings (especially Kankurou/Tenten), but for yaoi it is rather hard to find something to read when 99% of the archive is filled with Sasuke/Naruto and the search option is terrible when a character has a three letter name.

Possible solutions:

-Dropdown boxes of character names to filter like at FFN

-Separate sections for popular pairings that overshadow others

-Have the search recognize three letter names

I'm desparate to find stuff I can read and not waste my free time trying to find what I want. Oh and sorry to all the Sasu/Naru fans out there...

personally, i think anything involving naruto, itachi, sasuke, neji, or gaara is hot - as long as it's m/m and not m/f (thinks of sakura and shudders). sorry to you sakura fans out there - im just not one of them. they can basically go and molest anybody (but if it's between my fav charas, then im super happy ^^) and i'll be pretty much fine with it....as long as it's not lee. those caterpillar eyebrows still scare me. ^^;;

She's improved now, but how horrible she was before just hasn't gone away for me and I just can't understand how anyone could like her.

I'm guilty... for responding to off-topic posts. But if I may, this whole thread that was supposed to be about preffered pairings, has turned into a Sakura bashing thread.

On-topic:

Neji x Hinata- besides it being fated becuase of clan logic someone slapped me with? It's cute. I like it and I could really see it developping if given enough time. But then the issue of Hinata's feelings for Naruto always hits me with a rolled up newspaper.

Luckily, I'm resourceful and I got around that in the story I'm currently writing. Even if Neji and Hinata were stuck with each other, there's no reason why they would mind if each other were sneaking off with another person...

Edit: bookworm, to me Sasuke is a Gary Stu and far more deserving of scorn than Sakura. The majority of girls love him, he has a twagic past, envied powuhz and irritating arrogance that everyone excuses because of his sad past.

I think your discounting the damage a "twagic past" can do. Your describing it like it's nothing. The reason I dislike him is because of how far he's gone in his quest to avenge his clan, but I can understand his behavior. He's a screwed up guy. It's not an excuse, but it's a reason.

As far as I can see there's no reason for Sakura's behavior other than life was too easy on her and she's a lousy person.

THIS is one story you HAVE to read. it's the most beautiful fic. Rosemary for Rememberance by Sintari. And also this one a one-shot written by the same author.

To tell you the truth, these two stories were the ones that converted me to NejiHin-ism.
