ArkaineX55
Hormones > Filters. Kinda obvious that somebobdy who is computer savvy will figure out how to crack government filters. The kid said they should build their own, but I don't think they are that reliable now... and on Traditional parenting part: Nobody has time for their kids nowadays. foeofthelance
Hmmm. Actually, Im curious about several things. Was this in the United States? I know the fact that it lists him as being from Melbourne doesn't necessarily make him an Aussie, but I've never seen a news paper refer to a student as being in Year 10 before. Normally it's either mentioned as the tenth grade or sophomore instead. Year 10 is something I normally see used outside the U.S., such as Britain, Canada, and other parts of the commonwealth. It also didn't mention the Senator's party and state, which is rare as well, unless its from a major player. Otherwise, yeah, what did they expect? Kids will always be able to outthink the tools meant to hide things from them, and nothing makes a child more interested than things that are taboo. Guest echtrae
It did reference a minister though, which is not something that we have in the states.
foeofthelance
Yeah, that'd be a Secretary position in the states, wouldn't it? Also, most public schools I've encountered actually do just buy McAfee or Norton firewalls.
Guest echtrae
I'm not sure what the schools are buying these days, but it would be a Secretary position.
EveKnight75
I fail to see how traditional parenting could solve the problem if the parents aren't anywhere as tech-savvy as the kids. Do you think Tom Woods is going to be in a lot of trouble with his peers for reporting this to the adults instead of sharing it with other teens so that they could all have a porn-tastic time? foeofthelance
Probably not. Most kids don't use school computers to look for porn, they use school computers to play online games. Those who do use it to look for porn generally do it as a one time "Hey, I cracked the firewall!" stunt.
allthethingsyourefusetosay
It figures that a teenage boy would bypass a multi-million dollar firewall just to get to porn because we all know he just wanted to see some action and most of you are right schools just by the Norton and MacFee firewalls not only are they cheaper but you'll have a hell of a time trying to bypass the ones in my old school without the libarian's password. And also its not that parents are absent its that no teenager wants their parents around them which is mutual for the parents because honestly teenagers do have bad attitudes
foeofthelance
Actually, if I recall correctly, the easiest way to bypass Norton and McAfee was to simply go to google, go to Image search, turn off the Safe Search, and then type in what ever you wanted. Google comes up as a safe site to the main blocker, so the search gets let through...

shinigamiinochi
My cousin comes from a very, very catholic family, so he was never taught a thing about sex. At age seven, he kept hearing about this mystical thing called a 'vagina', but no one would tell him what it was and when he tried to look it up at his school, everything was blocked, so he figured out how to hack through it. Now, I had the opposite problem. Freshman year of high school, I went to the library to do research and discovered that some asshole had turned the homepage to some disgusting porn site. I like smut, but *shudder*

I like smut, but *shudder*LOL guess you're scarred for life because of that incident XD; The only thing that scarred me was finding my dads porn magazines in his dresser when I was really looking for my videogame control that my father took away from me cause I was grounded for something I don't remember now. (I did not know my dad had porn and it shocked me as a kid... there went my innocence and my idea of how I saw my dad being a good man) I never got caught nor does my father know that I found his stash when I was a kid to this day!
