China fighting AIDS

Story here

BEIJING (Reuters) - A Chinese province has taken the unusual step of fining hotels and bars more than $600 if they do not provide condoms, part of efforts to fight the spread of  AIDS, a newspaper said on Friday.

Around here, however, anyone who would dare propose this kind of law would be hung by a lynch mob.

"Condoms or condom-vending machines must be placed in hotels, bars and designated public places, or the managers will be fined 5,000 yuan ($650)," the report said.

If only we could wake up our leaders to this crisis... dry.gif

What a brilliant idea! No one is being discriminated against with this measure, and no one is being threatened by it (other than hotel managers, I would imagine). This measure is a hell of an example, I should think. Maybe more Westerners should consider this course of action.

That is a good idea. Yes in this country it would be frowned upon. But in China, they can do what they want, after all, they are not exactly a democracy as it is.

China just became so awesome in my mind. I wish the same law was set for our High Schools (instead of having so many people get all freaked over condom distribution in our schools... morons...).

I love how as least one government has finally recognized the fact that, with or without a condom, people are still going to have sex. Furthermore, this would also aid in their overpopulation issue.
