He had, in the story, saved a Naga egg and hatched it, trying to feed and keep the hatchling Naga alive. He also makes friends with a half Naga, half human hunter. His traveling group end up in a mountain that has sleeping Nagas inside that wake up and kill everyone except him, the baby, and his friend. The baby Naga turns out to be the last child of a Naga god and the High Priest Naga is slowly falling in love with the young man. I've searched under tags of "naga" and "snake" but came up empty.
