And if you take a quick look at Japanese statistics, it's flipping frightening how much child pornography, prostitution, molestation, and rape occurs there. Just because something is legal doesn't make it right. Besides that, to the best of my knowledge, this is an American site, and in America the age of consent is 18. It's not really up for much debate; check out the Terms of Service and agreement page that one commits to signing before registering on this site. In fact, here's a direct quotation from said TOS:

1) I affirm that I am at least 18 years of age and that I am legally permitted to view adult material according to the Federal Law of the United States of America. Additionally, I declare that I am of legal age to view adult and/or sexually explicit material in the country/region in which I reside. I understand that if I do not meet both of these prerequisites, I am not welcomed here, and will leave immediately.

Unless ya'll are getting creative in your interpretation of this, it says to me (and *very* explicitly) that you have to be of legal age in America *and* in the country where you reside to register here. In other words: you have to be at *least* 18 to be legally allowed on to this site.

Okay, first off child abuse - I hate it. I hate watching about it, and reading about it. I even walk out of the room when I hear about it on the news.

It is one of those things that does happen in the World. We have to live with it going on around us.

BUT:

As everybody said there is a difference between fiction and reality. I haven't read Lolita as the theme doesn't sit well with me but perhaps I should as a learning experience, I am not really sure. I have written scenes like rape, and murder, and sex, and right now I am contemplating a scene in my original story of a fifteen year old girl with her twenty year old cousin. By rights if there was no difference between fiction and reality I'd probably be put in solitary confinement.

Also, one final thing which no one has mentioned before.

Hundreds of years ago thirty year olds, forty year olds, even men in their fifties and sixties were married off to twelve, thirteen year old girls. Then, when a girl had her first period she was married of as soon as possible. It is only recently that practice is disgusting because of the way society has become.

I like the thought that Mother Nature doesn't know the difference.

Edit: I may ship Hermione/Lucius and Hermione/Severus but I never have had her involved in an underage consensual sex scene. It is sixteen in the UK. Legally, here, Hermione could have had sex practically any time in Order of the Phoenix, as she was nearly twelve in PS/SS.

We have surveillance cameras on city streets, intersections and just about every freaking place you can possibly imagine (grocery stores inside & out, laundromats, you name it). You can't pull your underwear out of your ass crack, scratch your nuts or adjust your boobs without somebody seeing it.

I heard that every single street in London every square inch of outdoors public space is monitored by the English police force same here in Brisbane every single inch of public space indoors and outdoors inside the shopping centers and commercial districts are monitored by the police and security services.

And about what this thread was initially about i think that stories about child abuse, pedophilia and other sex crime related stories are just disgusting and shouldn't be allowed BUT all of these stories have the releated warnings some of them even have LARGE LETTERS IN BOLD proclaming their warnings so its your own fault if you proceed you will have no leg to stand on with your complaints

oh and FFN still has NC-17 rated stories they are just masked to look like M rated on the outside

Society has become highly predjudiced between what is right and wrong so many taboos have popped up but hundreds of years ago the average lifespan was around 42 years, women generally stopped giving birth about 35 and also there was a much higher chance of pregnacy when they just get their first periods, hundreds of years ago it was common practice so the males that the girls are married to have the highest chance possible to get an heir and carry on the family line. there was also less then 1 bilion people in the world at the time. Population only passed 1 billion after the Industrial Age and the invention of medicines. Things change cultures evolve and adapt to new things. Asian tribes and countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia still have these old ways its acceptable to them

If people want to write minor stories it is their perogative, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but it's not illegal to write minor stories, I have written one, I wrote one about what happened to me when I was 10 years old, I am carrying on with it and writting about other stuff that has happened to me, i havn't included all the details because its just too painful, but it helps to write about it because I can't talk about it, and so I don't appreciate being told that I shouldn't be able to write about it even. I did want to say more but I don't think i will.
