*bump* Okay, so I'm done with the 10-week quarter from hell, and I've posted a few chapters. (I think some of you have noticed this, from the 20+ hits I got overnight...for a necro'd story, I was shocked. Anyway, it's sort of a rumination on extremism and relative morality, too. There's semi-waffiness now (?) and maybe other things later. In any case, it's back, for a limited engagement, if you were reading. Catch some new stuff before I go back to school for another two and a half months (yes, I do school year-round now.)

Title: Reverse Engineering Author: Oxidaze Rating: Adult+ (This isn't a really pornographic story, so if you're looking for PWP, skip it.) Summary: An ex-professional engineer is hunted down by her former employer in a fantastical world (this is not realistic or futuristic sci-fi), where engineering and science are bizarre and occult practices, eclipsed by "magic" and religion. What inspired this story was listening to a lot of music and studying engineering; there are thus musical tie-ins to a variety of bands (there's something for almost everyone, from The Shins to The Birthday Massacre and back again) and lyrics that relate somewhat to the story. Each song (or set thereof) served as a centerpiece to the chapter. Not a very focused summary. I think you'll enjoy, though, if you give the somewhat unusual concept a chance. Feedback: Yes, please. The more feedback I get, the more likely I am to bring a story to completion. Fandom: Original work. Hmmm. This story was inspired by a song called "Chloroform Girl" by Polkadot Cadaver, which--if you listen to it on YouTube or ProjectPlaylist--should give you a decent idea of where this is headed. I went with a more tech-y aesthetic, but for those of you who like dark humor, a little violence, science (it works...bitches! see xkcd for more), horror, and, IMO, a little bit more fluff than usual (a la Twilight), you may enjoy this. Please review, it keeps me going when I get distracted by other things going on in my life. Nine chapters up, working on more! It'll take a while to resolve all these twisty plot bunnies. Last one's a bit long. Bear with the slightly bizarre and massive plot twist in Chapter 8, it's all about character development.

New chapters! Don't be afraid of the proliferation of chapters, they all have a point, and they tend to be short. Thanks for the reviews I've received, it's always encouraging to hear nice things (and concrit, if you can offer it.)

Title: Harlequin (for the moment, can't think of anything better.) Author: Oxidaze Rating: Adult+, so far. Summary: A perverse serial killer traps a victim in an insane asylum where you go in normal and come out mad. Angst, AU/AR, Death, Language, Other, Tort, Violence, WIP Feedback: Yes, please. =) Fandom: Original work. Refurbished story from something a little old, so expect the writing style to change slightly. I reimagined part of an incomplete story as a short story, set in a urban location called Miracle City, full of urban decay (not the cosmetics) and representative of the effects of a total economic crash. The Harlequin, who is the main character, is a serial killer with bizarrely, mostly psychologically-oriented methods of murder. The story follows the unusual relationship (not necessarily romantic--haven't decided yet, but I think it'd be a stretch) he develops with a victim. It's like House, MD; I have no idea where it's going and neither do you, but we'll do our best to keep everyone in character and keep the story moving along. Three chapters up now, more to come.
