  1. Oh god! I'm so sorry! I've been terribly busy. I moved to Japan this past month and things have been...wonky, to say the least. I have some studying to do right now, but after that, I'll get right on the story! I could use a little porn writing to calm my nerves. XD I have the entire plot thought out and some sections written, I just need to start typing it up and finish it. It should be done in about a week, maybe sooner if my muse agrees with me.
  2. =)) Yeah...You're not the only one. XD *Hides stack of yaoi gun pr0nz* Still! Unless you're something other than human...Not a great place to have a gun off. >.> Ah...You're making me want to go snuff out some gun!kink pr0nz. XXD Thanks.
  3. I'm well aware of the fact that writers like feedback, and I am aware that writing for a lesser known fandom means less views and reviews for my story. I write for well known fandoms, like Buffy and Yuugiou, but I'm more interested in lesser knowns like Hellsing and Fire Emblem right now, so that's my focus point. There are at least a hundred fandoms that I have stuff in the works for, but curses! Writer's block strikes again! And basically next to nothing gets finished, or I move on to another series. I just let myself cycle through series, that way I never get sick of them. Except for Hellsing. I'll never be sick of Hellsing. Anyway! My point is, even if I am interested in a really popular fandom, I'm not going to abandon what I'm working on to finish a Buffy fic if I'm just not feeling it. That's all. I know that this Berserk fic I'm fixing up won't get a lot of views, and even less reviews, but I had fun writing it, and perhaps a few people will enjoy reading it too. But, I also know that there are some places that are a little more specialized, like communities and clubs on LiveJournal and Y-Gallery. (I'm a yaoi/slash/M/M writer) You just have to know where to post! As for ideals, idealistically I'd never have writer's block/laziness or forget words. *Sighs dreamily at the thought*
  4. I really don't agree with MorbidFantasy. Writing for more popular series is not the way to get more attention, granted, if I do like an author, I check out their other works too. BUT, what's the point in writing for another fandom when you've got writer's block? I know how hard it is to write for those poor, obscure and often times dead series...I do too. Hellsing, Berserk, xxxHOLiC. They just don't pull the traffic, but that's not why I write something, and I'm betting that you're the same way with this fic of yours. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Buffy (The show, not the character. I HATE Buffy Summers. Well, Sarah Michelle Geller.) and Harry Potter, but that doesn't mean I'm going to abandon what I'm working on now just to get some more reviews. Now, as it has been a REALLY long time since I watched Star Trek anything...I'm not going to be much help with your actual plot, but maybe I can help with the writer's block, for it is an evil I combat often. When I get horrible, HORRIBLE writer's block, my cure all is to eat a bowl of Sketti O's and watch Invader Zim. In other words, something that makes me giggle uncontrollably and leaves me feeling happy. Something else to try that will increase blood flow to the brain, making it easier to think is caffeine. Either black tea or coffee work well, or, if you do yoga, you can try standing on your head. Silly, yes, but it does work. Try a change in scenery; go outside with a notebook and a pen. If you don't write by hand, you might try it. My best ideas always come from writing by hand, technical stuff, like correct grammar and wording I leave for the computer, all you really need at first are ideas. For music, Listen to something classical; it connects brainwaves and makes it easier to think and concentrate. If you want something to look at, look at things that are purple. (Which is why Invader Zim works so well too, lots of purple) Purple is supposed to inspire inspiration. Why not try taking a hot shower! Not only will you feel nice and clean afterwards, but you might just come up with something, I usually do. Something that I think about when writing something really long and important to me is this: So long as I get all of my ideas down, even if they're not in order, I have them. Think of it like a quilt; you first need to pick out all squares (ideas) then you can sew them together with thread (what comes between each idea) and then you get your finished product! It doesn't matter if you're thinking of something in the later chapters of your fic, so long as you have those ideas, you don't have to worry about remembering them for so long, letting you relax, KNOWING you have your ideas solid, on paper, or safe in a document. I know a lot of these things may seem silly or just plain weird, but you'd be surprised at how well they work. Like Melrick said, you might make your fic seem a little more appetizing in the first author's note. Leave the mish-mash for at the end of the chapter. Personally, I tend to gravitate away from authors who put things like 'I don't know where this is going' in the summary. It's just doesn't seem like it's worth the time. You might try going to LiveJournal and searching out some Star Trek communities there. People review there and comment a lot more than any place I've seen, and I'm quite certain you can find a few active communities there. Just curious (and because I know it was Spock that bore forth the wonder of my life that is slash) if your fic slash or het?
  5. o.O Wooow...I wouldn't even use those terms when I'm trying to be ridiculous and funny while describing something sexual to a friend...Those are terms you'd use to get someone away from you in a fast hurry while in bar or something... Man or woman, gay or straight...Who would say 'I want your love gun inside me!'? Cause that's just one place you really want to have a gun... >.> Especially one that's loaded! *Rolls around laughing* Ah...Couldn't resist. I think the biggest turn off for me is 'Bearded blood sausage'. I...don't like beards...Ew. And what's with the cookie?! And...And...GNOMES!!! *Wails horribly, the twitches uncontrollably* I DESPISE GNOMES!!! Who the fuck wants a gnome to describe their sexual parts?! I could go on and say something absolutely ridiculous for each those...terms, but I'll just add to the list instead: Fudge-packer. Yeah, that's REAL attractive. Cherry Picker Meat Muffin Dragon (Seriously?) Sword - That seems to be a favorite... Rose-plucker Donut hole (What is it with sex and the need to use food terms?!) Missile - Another object you sooooooooo want in your whatever. Pearl Oyster Clam Shell Clam Digger - o.O Weed-whacker - Yet another o.O V-Jay Jay And my all time favorite for penis isss! Peenee! I actually do use that, but not in writing. Peenee is just fun to say. The next time you see a picture that doesn't deliver the nudely goods, you can say 'Aww...I wanted to see his peenee!' You know you want to! I think the simpler the term, the better. My favorites are cock, dick, member, and manhood. Since I write yaoi mostly, I usually use cock for the top and dick for the bottom. Though I prefer cock over dick, only because dick has the 'You're being a dick, shut up,' implications. I mean, who says 'You're being a cock, shut up'? XD I'm so going to use that now.
  6. Well, SereneLies, I think the most helpful thing I can bestow upon you is this: Know your characters. Whether it be for fanfiction or original fiction, you MUST know your characters. Now, I know it's not like you can possibly know everything about a character that isn't yours...but you should at least know the likes and dislikes of that character, their personality, and how they talk. For instance, Spike (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) probably isn't about to go skipping through a field of flowers at high noon...That was Andrew's fantasy, not Spike's. Something else that's really important about knowing your characters is knowing what time period they are from! If your writing from a period pre-dating plastic...You're not going to have the convenience of bottles of lubricant or condoms, something very important, if you ask me. You need to consider what words to use, as Keith stated, I find it highly unlikely for a man from the time of the Old Testament to use profane or slang terms. It just doesn't seem realistic. Luckily, the word f*ck has been around for the past 500 years or so, so at least you've still got that word if you're doing a past piece. But, you also need to be careful in how you use f*ck; it's a powerful word, and if your character is shy and sheepish, it probably wouldn't sound so natural if they're spouting off like a sailor. If you're unsure of how long a word has been around, use Dictionary.com! They give the origins of words and when they came about, very useful. Secondly, use your judgement. If you really don't think your character would do something, or say something, then don't do it! If someone else doesn't like it, too damn bad for them! It's YOUR piece, your writing, not theirs. I think that by creating this thread, you want help and you actually want to go the extra mile, take the extra time to do the best you can. It's refreshing to see someone like that, compared to a lot of people who just rush through something to get it done and then post it without so much as a spell check...That may be one of the biggest reasons sex scenes come out less than desirable. While a quickie can be fun, it's a lot better when you have the time to take the time. Something that continues to baffle me is the debate of whether there should be sex scenes in some fanfiction or not...I think it depends on the build up to the bedroom scene (Or where ever it is they're having teh sex). I mean...If one of the character's mother just died, they're probably not about to jump into bed with someone and have hot, torrid sex. That's just weird. And there is one important thing to consider while thinking about the 'to write the sex scene or not to write the sex scene'...this is ADULTFanfiction.net...That kinda implies we all come here to read some pr0nz, no? Like Keith said, if you advertise kinks and fetishes then don't deliver...It's more than a little bit of a let down. And just because you haven't done something personally isn't much of an excuse to advertise then deny...There's a whole world of internet out there with information on anything imaginable, you just have to be willing to do the research. I am a yaoi/slash/boy-on-boy writer, and I am female. I'm pretty sure I've never had gay sex with a man before, yet I seem to deliver the goods quite well, or so I am told. I think a good tip for writing in general is not to use the same word over and over. As I said before, I'm mostly a M/M writer so I know how hard it is not to use the same words over and over, having two 'hes' to contend with and all, but that's a whole other pie of crazy-confusing. Anyway, the easiest way to make sure you're not over-doing it, is to simply read through your work, and if you find that a word occurs too often, it's really easy to go to the thesaurus and look up a new word. I know I tend to prattle on, but I hope that I helped you, even if only a little. Oh, and in my opinion, 'penis' isn't that sexy of a word. It sounds too clinical and I hate to see it in a sex scene. But! That is entirely my opinion, and if you like to use penis, have at it.
  7. Mmmm...Thoughts are bouncing about in my braaain! Oh, and I loves teh rape. :3 Or noncon...whatever it is you kids are calling it these days. XD (Don't worry, I write a lot better then when I talk.) Ah...Alucard...Always doing things out of that endless void of boredom of his. I loves it. Well! I think I am going to go make a cup of tea, or something like that, and get started on this! Just so you know...I tend to be a little on the slow side, at least when I write for myself. I'm just ever so slightly faster when it's for someone else. Isn't that comforting? XD Also, please, please let me know if there is something else you want in the fic!
  8. =)) No problem. I'm mostly a yaoi writer...But AlucardxIntegra has always held a special place in my heart...And smut. Smut holds a very, very large spot in my heart. XD I'm sorry that I may be a little...Picky? I just want to know what you want specifically so's I can make you happy. I take it you want the current day Walter, yes? (I loves oldermen, so that is in no way a problem) So, the way I am reading what you would like is that Walter has no problem (Or less of a problem XD) having sex with Alucard, but he wants nothing to do with Seras? As for Integra...I've got ideas bouncing about...How do you feel about F/F? Oh, thorough is the word I want! Not picky...Silly me~
  9. Hmmm...I wouldn't mind trying my hand at this. I do so love my Hellsing. I'm just wondering how you want Integra included? Just in the story, or do you want her to join in the...'festivities'?
