Canon is generally what is described in the books and thus 'set in stone', like facts, names and happenings. Forexample, from the books we know that Harry has green eyes and a lightning bolt shaped scar on his forehead, and so on... Hope that helped.

I was wondering why when I update my stories by adding new chapters(in the HP category) My story never or rarely shows up in the Latest list, even though on the same moment there haven't been a bunch of other updates. Also, my story doesn't show in the category's top, it is bunched somewhere in the middle of the first page, even thought the other story updates had been hours before. Why is it so? Am I doing something wrong?

When I first read GoF, I thought that Harry would end up with Hermione. I think she evens out his 'defects'. I wouldn't say he's stupid, he's just very stubborn and temperamental. I don't see how she could be with Ron. Ron is of moderate intelligence, he has not many challenging personality traits. I just don't see Hermione barefoot and pregnant, as i think that would happen if she's with him. Just my opinion, I might be wrong.

I think it depends on the author's own preferences. I, for example, don't like HP/GW, but I don't write slash, either. I think that here on AFF the fanon/rare pairs are more popular. Other sites do host more of the cannon pairs...look there, you might find more stories of what you like. Just my two cents.
