  1. A while ago, around the time when my GI Joe story "Powerful Urges" was posted, I got a review for it. Now it's gone. Has this ever happened to anyone before?
  2. More Bumpage. Not just rabid fans, rabid Egon and Janine shippers who see it as a threat to the OTP. Which was stupid because it's not like I was gonna have them knockin' boots right off the bat.
  3. I know, and yet when you try telling them that, it's like banging you head repeatedly against a brick wall. They refuse to believe that that's how they're behaving.
  4. No problem. I can usually remember long words(except for that one Grandpa Simpson mentioned), so I thought I'd help out a little.
  5. I believe the word you're looking for is Hypoglycemia. Hooray for fifty-cent words!
  6. I've had this same problem within the Real Ghostbusters fandom. Because I've included an OC in my stories, and believe that Egon and Janine as a couple is not my cup of tea, I had to make sure that people have been clearly warned. Yet what do I find? Flames up my wazoo! And here's the kicker, most of the flaming is from rabid Egon and Janine shippers.
  7. Bumpage, once again. Sorry folks. Not describing them also tends to bring on the Mary Sue accusation in some people. You'd get those who'd be all like, "Whos is this person? Where'd they come from? How do they fit into the scheme of things?". It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.
  8. Also, I don't like walking by my bed in the dark. I get this feeling that something is gonna reach out and grab my leg.
  9. Can I join? I'm currently stuck in the "No friends" Zone too. Mostly because my job takes up most of my time, so come weekends I always have to improvise ways of keeping myself occupied. Not that I don't mind being a Lone Wolf every now and then, but there are times where having fun with other people is more fun than by myself.
  10. With my OCD's, I may have just cornered the market..... Lists: I have to make them, or else I might forget something. Placement of things: I hate clutter! If I can't find something because it's been moved, that drives me insane! Especially whenever I'm at work, and get stuck doing the dishes. If someone else has been there, and I don't like where they put things, or things are just chock-a-block, I want to pull my hair out! Music: This is a biggie. I hate overplayed crap! Hearing the same songs three or four times a day, especially if the songs suck donkey balls, is NOT COOL! I also hate it when I song I don't like gets stuck in my and repeats on a endless loop(this is commonly referred to as an earworm).
  11. This perhaps might be the strangest fear: Plugged-up-until-they're-overflowing toilets. Yeah, you heard correct, OVERFLOWING TOILETS. I don't know why. I just, freak out at that. And I have no idea were it came from. I also hate climbing(like steep mountain sides or something to that effect), mostly if I have to the work, plus that nagging feeling I'll plunge to my death. And finally, walking under an overpass used by trains. I used to live in a town where one of the main roads had a overpass used by trains. That street was a part of my walking route to school. It was a bit unnerving whenever there was a train going by, and I had to walk under there. I mean, what if the instant I walked under there, it should collapse due to weakening metal? Or an earthquake? Or BOTH?
  12. I'm a firm believer in I Write What I Know, because more often, it happens on a subconscious level. Especially if you're writing about a character that you most identify with. For example, whenever I write stuff about Billy the Blue Mighty Morphin Power Ranger, sometimes a lot of what I "theorize" especially about his past, mirrors my own life experiences. One story in particular that I have at FF.net is Tears of Blood, Prisoner Of Pain. It deals with Billy getting constantly hounded by bullies and how no one would help him. I was bullied in the past, and no one helped me, plus if I stood up for myself, I got in trouble for it. I included a scene of that happening to Billy in that particular fanfic.
  13. Wellllll, I've only written one SI, and it was where I'm "with" Egon Spengler. Of course it was only meant to a parody story of how some Egon and Janine stuff I've read(softcore and hardcore) was written like a BAD, VERY BAD porno movie script.
  14. My name needs no explanation, unless you've been living under a rock and have never heard of the music group Duran Duran.
  15. Technically, I'm not new, I was here before under the name Rani. But something happened to that profile. Now I'm here under DuranDuranfan as you know it.
  16. No, sadly, I missed that one. Fell asleep. I'm so not a morning person! (I love these smilies!)
  17. This is also another reason why the whole MS issue irks me, because it's my belief that just because one is a fan of a show, that doesn't mean they have to accept all of what was presented, canon couplings included. I'll site The Real Ghostbusters cartoon series as an example. The writers of the show wanted it so that Egon, one of the GB's, would eventually be dating Janine, the secretary. But I am not a fan of this coupling, because I don't think Janine is a right match for him. Egon is eccentric and scientific and at times, aloof. A potential girlfriend would have to have a lot of patience in dealing with someone as eccentric and aloof as he is. It's also been theorized that Egon may have had an Autism Spectrum Disorder such as Aspergers Syndrome(but that's another matter entirely). While Janine at times was a bit bookish and nerdy, she had some annoying qualities which really frightened Egon, she came across as flighty at times, and it also seemed to me that she didn't take a genuine interest in his hobbies and things that he liked. Now does that mean I hate Janine? Not at all. Plus, if theory of Egon having an ASD is true, then I don't believe that Janine would have enough patience to deal with someone with an ASD(believe me, I live with it myself, and you gotta have the patience to deal with me!). But, while it took Egon a few years to "like" Janine in that way, and to admit it, of course it would be OOC for him to believe in love at first sight with any other potential date, which is why I've had to make several revisions to the fanfics I wrote and published at FF.net, that feature the OC I introduced that I've wanted to eventually set Egon up with. However, due to problems with people(most of them hardcore E/J-ers) that think they own the GB-verse, who think that because they're better writers and as such, feel that alone gives them the right to dictate to others what to write, I've quit writing GB fanfiction altogether.
  18. Forgive me for the bump, but I just wanted to add my 2 cents. To me, the whole Mary Sue thing has become more of a casual insult and an excuse to bash any OC that appears in a story, whether that OC is well-rounded and realistic or not, and now it's damned if you provide some background on the OC, damned if you write an OC without providing any background whatsoever. Plus there's really no basic set of "rules" or "characteristics" to properly define what makes an OC an MS or not, simply because it all boils to down to the perception of the individual reader, and the show that their story is based on.
  19. Types of reviews I delete: Out and out flames"You're Teh suXX0rZ!!!), and one's where someone is bitching about what is going to happen or who is in my stories, even after giving CLEAR warnings about what to expect. Frack, now those one's I hate the most. Plus, I also hate it when people stil continue to spam my box with the same shit, after I've deleted it.
  20. To me, an inflammatory review is one that states shit like "You suck, you can't write your way out of a paper bag blah blah blah! This part sucked, this person sucked, and so did that and the other thing! You this writing?! If I puked in a fountain pen and mailed it to the monkey house I'd get better stories!!" Basically shit like that. And even if it's gussied up to look "nice" I can still smell smoke.
  21. I set my alarm and got up early so that I could watch(and record!) Duran Duran's performance. There's no denying it, they still know how to rock!
  22. I have one word: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
