I believe actions are what count, not thoughts, but governments seem to think differently.  And I agree with the original suggestion.

I suggest a rule that non-written porn content (drawings/photos etc) only has a URL posted with a description of content for users to decide if they want to view it. Reason being that while America has that freedom of expresson thing, a lot of the drawn porn stuff is illegal elsewhere, such as in my jurisdiction. When you click into a thread and the pictures are right there it’s too late to not have it on your hard drive and ISP record. There doesn’t seem to be any need to hotlink it, as those who want to share and view the pictures would still be able to do so.
    It’s a suggestion anyway.

The first thing you should know is that this forum is for promoting your own story that you’ve uploaded to the AFF archive only. That is, no stories that you’ve uploaded to other websites not connected to AdultFanFiction.

With that established, the first thing you need to do is to click on the ‘Start New Topic’ button. In the ‘Topic Title’ area, the simplest thing to put is just the name of your story.

The main body of your post could begin with a brief intro, telling people you’ve posted a new story, or a brand new chapter of your story. That isn’t required, but the following information is:

    Author:
    Title:
    Summary:
    Feedback:
    Fandom:
    Pairing:
    Warnings:
    Solo story or chaptered story:
    URL:
    Review Reply thread:

An example of what it should look like is below:

    Author: Melrick
    Title: An Interesting Story
Summary: A really interesting thing happens, and then something else even more interesting happens! (Here you can write as detailed a blurb as you want to. A catchy summary to entice the reader.)
Feedback: Feedback and constructive criticism much appreciated.
    Fandom: Original
    Pairing: N/A
    Warnings: M/F, Oral, Anal
Solo story or chaptered story: Solo story
    URL: http://original.adul...ion.net/FakeURL
Review Reply thread: Link to review reply thread in the appropriate forum, if and when you make one.

You could, if you like, finish your post by thanking people for reading, or that you hope they enjoy it. And you really should make sure that your spelling and grammar is good, otherwise it won’t exactly leave a good impression about your writing skills!

And that’s all there is to it!

    And… I’m back home!
Two CT scans later, after a panic by the doctors where they thought I didn’t have appendicitis, but instead a much more serious inflammation ofthe main artery that supplies blood to my legs (scary), they’ve finally settled on a painful disease that isn’t life threatening (or at least, not yet). I’ve been knocked out with morphine and codeine and shoved full of antibiotics.
    What a performance.
While I was there, I discovered why I never write longhand. I love my computer.
Thank you for all your well wishes, everyone. Most appreciated, even if I did have a load of trouble getting online whilst I was there.
Normal service shall now be resumed. After a good night’s kip. And a decent cup of coffee. And a couple of days rest, probably. And a shower to get this horrible hospital smell off of me.

You’ll be fine, you’ll see.  Also, I like the idea of cutting off the useless bits when we’re young.  There’d be more than a few people without a head in that case.

I promoted it at the time, but it just didn’t garner much interest.  Which is okay, that’s always going to happen if you write enough stories.  But I’ll include the link here to my archive.

And once again, please note the statement at the top of the search thread:
We are really not joking about this. Do NOT come to our search threads to solicit hard copies or email files of stories. Do NOT come to our search threads to post links to pirated copies of stories. We don’t mind you sending our readers to other legitimate archives, despite not being affiliated with any of them, but we draw the line at promoting theft of an author’s hard work, and that’s exactly what passing around copies is. If the original author did not post it on the Internet for all to read, it doesn’t belong on our search threads.

You’re welcome!  I see these “Do you know what this story is?” questions all the time and have wondered if anyone would ever mention something that turned out to be one of my stories, but never thought it would happen.  But now it did, so I’m very happy. lol  Oh and I’m glad you like the story!

We rely heavily on strangers out there, reading the stories, remembering other stories they've read, and getting suspicious enough about similarities to report it to us. We've caught a lot of plagiarists because of people like that. We're well aware that other sites don't seem to care all that much about plagiarists, but most of us are writers ourselves, and we know how we'd feel if our stories got plagiarised, so the least we can do is to ban them and publicly humiliate them. And we'll keep that up, as long as people keep bringing these things to our attention.
I'm glad your situation got sorted.

I use ellipses when a person is pausing in dialogue, but I’ve never had someone pausing after every word, so that would be a new situation for me.  I would do the same as Bronx in that situation.

I think that’s when we really find out exactly where our writing level is at, when we push ourselves outside of our comfort zones.  Staying in your comfort zone is safe but I personally think your writing can stagnate if you do that.  Writing for different genres forces you to think differently, approach things in a way that you wouldn’t have before.  My biggest Achilles Heel is coming up with plots that I’m happy with.  I find it very, very difficult, which is frustrating.
I’m glad you enjoyed my story. And you should definitely have a go at writing horror one day.  It’ll be good experience if nothing else.

While I don’t avoid this genre, the one I’m least confident in is erotica.  I don’t think I’m all that great at writing sex scenes.  I think I’m better at all the non-sex related stuff.  Still, I give it a red hot go none the less.

Maybe I just have unreasonably high expectations for myself.  In fact, I’m certain I do.  I don’t know if I’ve ever written a sex scene that I was truly happy with. I always feel I could do a lot better.  And I’m glad I could make you wet. lol

I don’t restrict myself to any genre, nor do I deliberately avoid any.  I only normally write original fiction though.  I do like to challenge myself and push into different areas.  I’ve only lightly dabbled in sci fi once so I’d like to do that again one day (sending unwanted plot ideas my way will be appreciated ), but my favourite genres are horror and fantasy.  I’m open to any genre though.
