  7. I'm sure some of you have been been wondering, like me, whether it's vital to include the actual word in your story. The answer is yes. Or possibly no. 'Kay, bye! All right, the fact is, there's no hard and fast rule on this. As long as you include the word, the meaning of the word, or both into it, then you're good. My advice, though, is that if the word is an obscure one that few - if any - have actually heard of, and only just barely scrapes in as being an actual, real word (I'm looking at you 'frittle'!) then it wouldn't be a bad idea to include a very brief meaning of the word in an author's note at the start of the story. After all, the word is the entire reason for you writing the piece in the first place, so explaining it to your readers would leave them less confused... hopefully.
