  2. If you write original fiction then that tends to get less reviews than fan fiction, but if you’re like me and also write original but non m/m stuff then it gets even less reviews. And god forbid if you include no sex of any kind in it! lol

  8. I’ve been thinking about this and rereading the story, to see if I’d made mistakes with it. And I didn’t. The story as it is now is exactly the story I intended to write, and to change it would turn it into something I never wanted it to be. I appreciate your comments though, because it helped to confirm something for me. I’ve always written to please myself first, so if I like the story then I’m happy, and if others like it as well then that’s a terrific bonus. So changing the story might make others happy, but it would have the opposite affect for me. While it’s always going to be one of my favourites, I understand that it’s not going to be the same for most others, and I’m okay with that. So in the future, I’ll go back to being happy if a story gets a single review. lol

  10. I’m the kind of person that enjoys pushing myself into writing about things that don’t personally interest me or excite me, but there are limits. I never have or would write about scat. Nope. Nope nope nope. Male on male sex doesn’t do it for me, but I did push myself to write one slash story, which I uploaded here. I don’t know how good it is, but I did rewrite the ending to be less… shithouse. Also, in real life I’m utterly repelled by rape. I mean, it just makes me angry! But I’ve tried to write rape fantasies… and I just can’t do it. I feel too sorry for the woman, and end up having her enjoy the experience. So I realise I just can’t write rape that isn’t rubbish.

  18. For Ripples SPOILER WARNING. There were questions asked, Erik simply blocked that all out. His pretty twisted mind came up with a scenario that was easier for him to handle. Remember, you need proof or very strong circumstantial evidence to arrest someone, and there was clearly none of either. Again, he simply blocked all this out. The importance of the swamp grew out of all proportion because he was unhinged. Or was it indeed because of the swamp? Were the swamp zombies even real or was it all just his very disturbed mind? I deliberately left questions unanswered to let the reader fill in the blanks themselves. Sometimes I don’t want to hold the reader’s hand right to the finish; sometimes I prefer to let the reader do some of the work. Remember, this is just a story, and exceptionally few stories truly stand up under microscopic scrutiny. ;-)

  22. Yeah, non sexy stories definitely get less love than plain old smut, usually. And original stories also usually get less attention than fan fiction, sadly. I get more enjoyment out of writing non-smut actually. I agree. I like using my imagination, for porn and non-porn, and it’s hard to do that when you’re being hand-held right through the story. I guess that’s one reason why I enjoy leaving some of my stories open-ended and allow the reader to come to their own conclusion to various degrees.

  24. Have you ever written a story that you’re particularly proud of but ended up receiving little attention from anyone? Perhaps it got very few, if any, reviews. Mine is probably a story called Ripples. I tried to make it feel as much like a Stephen King story as I could manage, and I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. It only got the 1 review. My stories never get too many more than that normally anyway, but I always wished it had got appreciated more. Maybe my pride in the story has caused me to be particularly biased towards it, and therefore can’t see it for the average story it really is. Do you know why your story didn’t get much attention, or is it a puzzle to you?
  25. Having lunch at McDonald’s today with mum, and the young, attractive teen-aged girl at the counter was happy and smiley and giggly while serving me, and was checking me out the whole time we were there, constantly.  And this isn’t the first time I’ve noticed teen-aged girls checking me out, and they’re always attractive.  And I’m always puzzled!  Why the hell would an attractive teen-aged girl check out a 40 year old man, 45 as I am now?  And there is definitely no mistaking it for what it is.  I guess I should be more flattered than confused, but confused is much more accurate.  Girls are confusing!
