Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve been on AFF. I’ve been a bit busy, but alright. Personal update since the last time I was on here: I’ve recently found out I’m autistic, which explains a lot about how I’ve experienced life and makes me happy because certain things make a lot more sense now. I’m on Tumblr a lot lately, and love the autistic community there because everyone is so nice and supportive. Anyhow, I’m going to have my story Just Under the Surface on hiatus for a while. I’m also thinking of starting a new fanfic that’s for the show Sherlock.

AFF is my support group

Yes!~
I don’t really care for labels except as an extension to describe oneself with clarity, but functioning labels are just used by NTs so often to discredit what auties have to say and not listen to us, whether it’s “But you’re high functioning, so you don’t know what it’s like for my low functioning child!” (Excuse me? But, honey, I’ve got a better idea than you do in all consideration. I’d advise listening to your kid.) or “Oh, they’re low functioning, so they can’t do anything for themselves.” (Darling, I guarantee that “low functioning” person has the ability to do things, just not how you’d go about it because they need a little help, not a damn warden.). It’s annoying and messed up. Of course, this isn’t everyone, it’s just the ones who are ableist. No, Karen, “You don’t seem autistic” is not a complement; that’s just denying me validation of what I already know. You wouldn’t tell a person with arthritis “You don’t seem like you have arthritis” just because they’re doing stuff you wouldn’t expect someone with joint pains to do, and that’s because it’s not exactly the same for everyone, yet autism is stereotypes into behind this particular way when it’s not really like that for everyone. So yeah, definitely pretty saddening we have to use those labels. Support levels would be a lot better than functioning labels.

AFF is an amazing place. :3

Wish me luck on tomorrow's test! I have two chapters worth of material to test on plus fifty terms to know the meaning of for the terminology part of the test with no word bank to look to for help! Honestly, I like not having any word bank because it really gives me a little challenge to see how well I actually know the words and their meanings.

Hey, congratulations! I’d be stoked if I got a 47/50

Absolutely! You’re preaching to the choir, sister. Even though in the fiction writing world, the rules of spelling, grammar, and word precision are a little more pliable, I am still a firm believer that you need an intimate knowledge of the rules before you can properly bend them over a barrel.

Knowledge is power, but is is also a distraction. XD

Today shall be my first day of work as a CNA! I don't count the orientation day because that was just watching a few videos and filling out a bit of paperwork. Anyhow, I'm very over the moon to start in a few hours. It's an eight hour shift, from 2PM to 10PM. I can hardly wait to start getting to know the residents and my coworkers.

Congratulations! Hopefully, your first day went well. Almost everyone I’ve met who has gone into nursing “working their own way” has started out as a CNA. The “trick” is to keep up your studies to work up to LPN, RN, and so on without burning out. The clinical experience you gain will help you become a better nurse as time goes on.

Hope it went well for you!

I don't plan on going on to LPN or RN. I'm just going for PCT so my mum isn't on my ass about having a career that pays well. I plan on moving out of state far away from my current residence as soon as I'm done with phlebotomy this semester and EKG next semester so that I have the PCT completed to make things smoother when parting ways with her. I do want to maintain a decent if not good relationship with her. I just have to get a job near my intended location to move to once I've got PCT so that I have a steady income while finishing my books(at least one of them) and other plans I have.
You didn't get that from my last comment? XD Thanks, Des. It really did. Haha~
