Hey everyone!
First of all, before the Reality Check, a couple things. First, a big, enthusiastic welcome-back to DarkRomantics to the forums. Missed having you!
Second, congratulations to JohnnyBanana on his official account Welcome aboard.
All right, time for the Reality Check!
- Jack's tossing of all his old materials is exactly what I did at the end of every school year. Nothing felt better than my heavy-ass backpack now light as a feather and not needing to be filled for several months.
- A lot of Kayla's dialogue comes directly from my wife, including most of the zingers. Verbatim. I made sure to ask her permission before I used them.
- The pool party was an amalgamation of several pool parties I've had over the years, mostly drawn from one in particular at the end of my Junior year. The conversations and the pool they were at are drawn from that, while other finer details come from other parties.
- The description of Tara's house is based very much on the area where my cousin's family used to live, mixed with some of my ideal features of homes I would like to live in once we move.
That's all I got for now. I've started work on Chapter 30 and hopefully it should clip along at a nice pace. We shall see.

Hey everyone! BashfulScribe (whom those of you from xnxx will remember) has started posting on AFF. Please go and support him. It's been a rough couple of months for him and I think it would be great for him to get a warm reception here.

Chapter 21 is up!
So sorry this one took a while. Usual excuses: life, work, etc. But this chapter in particular...it struck me kinda close to the heart. Not just for story content but for what it made me remember. I'm going to continue to have this story reflect what's happened to me in my life, no matter what, but some things are more painful than others. Particularly here.
I warned you that this wasn't exactly a happy chapter. Just to prepare you.
In further news, I have switched shifts at work so my original 0800-1600 shift is now 2200-0600. That's right...overnight. Now, this actually may be a good thing because I'm finding myself with a bit more time during the day to write. Hopefully, this will mean chapters will come out quicker. Don't want to promise anything but the past couple of days I've been on this shift, I've had a bit more time on my hands. I would love to get the next Chapter out by Christmas but I will keep you updated with progress and whatnot.

I just finished reading the new chapter,... i took as much time reading it as I could to stretch it out.
I mean a lot of what people have already stated is true to me as well, that doing it would make Jack and Kayla's intamacy seem like its in danger.
I don't think that anyone who is in a threesome at 16yrs old really loves anyone in the mix and thats why its cool to have threesomes in high school.
I would just hate to see Jack do this, even if Kayla made it clear she is cool with it. It would break the trust in their relationship down the road. Right now they know that they have each other and Jack knows that "she is the one".
So obviously if you have read my post, im saying dont do it Jack.

Lol well I always thought of Kayla as played by Emma Stone. Either way, Id tap that.

Hey guys.
So...not really an update but I just got through writing a section in this chapter (two-thirds of the way done, btw) and it had me in tears by the end of it and I actually had to step away from the story for a little while because it brought back some really painfully memories (not with my wife but other stuff in my life) and it was so painfully I actually had to convince myself to come back to the story because I knew it needed to get done.
Why did I come back? Well, two reasons. First of all, this is my story and I damn well need to see it through.
Second...is you guys.
You guys are all fantastic. Those of you who came from xnxx or those who just started reading the story here...you're all amazing fans and amazing readers and every comment you leave, whether praise or not, means a lot to me. It helps get me through the rough patches and carry on. So, yeah, this part I'm at really kinda tears me up a bit inside but you guys are worth it and I want you to know that I am plowing ahead through the chapter and I hope to have it up in the next couple of days.
Thank you all so much for being so supportive and giving me more support, praise, and encouragement than I ever thought I deserved.

Halfway point update!
And...just wow, guys. I don't think I've laughed so hard in a long time reading all the 'theories' on where the story might be headed. Like...jeez, now I feel distinctly uncreative. I mean...wow. Thank you guys. This is fantastic stuff!
Although, to be honest, bits and pieces from several of the posts, mixed together (I'm not going to say which ones), actually kind of, sort of might point in the direction the next chapter is headed. Again, not going to say which ones, but no fair you guys guessing stuff

LOVE all the left field theories. I'll just keep my guess simple.....and dark. Jack tells Tara no and Tara feels so shunned and depressed that she tries to kill herself but Jack saves her just in the nick of time. He himself goes into depression and swears off women and ends up hooking up with Joe, who was already into Brad so Jack was a no-brainer. Kayla comforts Belle and they hook up and the story becomes one big gay-fest for a couple chapters until Tara brings them all back to their senses....and each other. Hey, it could happen! OK, it couldn't but this wait just tends to make the mind "wander" a bit.

So, until he posts Chapter 21, does this mean we get to predict what happens? Just trying to stir the pot a little.

Hey everyone!
Sorry for the lack of an update on Chapter 21 but things have been really hectic, what with Thanksgiving and having to shift to Christmas-mode so I've been really busy so here's a quick update!
The chapter is coming along. I'm almost halfway done with it and I think the second half will go quicker (I will elaborate in a little).
As to the actors I thought would be good for film roles of this story, it's all purely subjective. You are free to see who you want in the roles but, as someone pointed out, I chose them more for personality than body-match. I think Emma Watson is not only beautiful but she's also got a very good tough and vulnerable side that I've seen in her performances that matches very well with how I think Kayla is. Specifically, her performance in The Perks of Being a Wallflower is very much how I see Kayla acting once she is a Senior. There's also this great sense I get from watching her act that she has a lot of patience and understanding but isn't completely fooled when someone is just yanking her chain which, again, is how I see Kayla. Do their boobs match? Honestly, I don't know. I haven't been looking at Emma Watson's breasts. Honestly, it's all personality and acting but if you see someone else in the role, fantastic.
Now, on a little sobering note regarding the next chapter...it's not necessarily going to be a happy one. I'm not going to reveal yet which decision Jack goes with but, either way, it's not going to be a light-hearted chapter. Just wanted to warn you guys in case you were caught off-guard. That's all I'm going to say about it but let's just say I've had a few tears writing the parts I've written so far. Are they happy tears? Sad tears? You'll have to find out but it's going to be a little more morose than you guys might be used to.
I'll post as the chapter comes closer to completion but just figured you guys deserved an update

Now THERE'S a nice conundrum cliffhanger. I can't wait to see what happens! Will Mr. Honorable succumb to being a teenage guy and live out every guy's fantasy? I know I would but Jack is WAY more honorable than I ever was.
I absolutely love how you handled the PTS of Walburn's suicide. Jack will need help getting through that so I hope you have him getting some type of professional help and maybe even include Belle. Once again, VERY well done, my friend!

Chapter 20 is up Hope it was worth the wait.
Little bit of business: at the end of the chapter, Jack has to make a decision. Because so many people have gotten invested in this story, I would love to get some opinions on what the audience thinks Jack should do next If you want to post here or send me a message, feel free to do so. I would love to hear your ideas and why you think so. Yes or no, I will use the winning side to help formulate the next chapter. I can work with either option.

I think that I have finally realized why i love reading this series. It has nothing to do with the sex,... it has a little to do with the plot,... but the main reason is that US as readers are with you through out the development of this series. So yea its been forever since Chap 19, but if we were reading our favorite book series from some famous author we would read the whole book in a day and have to wait a year or more to get the next taste of action. With this series we know what motivates you, we know what delays the series, we know that we are never going to stop reading this series.
So take all the time you want, Joe.
However I do agree that if Chap 20 ends in another cliffhanger after this long wait we riot, not really but there is no reason to tease a captive audience.

It has nothing to do with the sex,... it has a little to do with the plot,... but the main reason is that US as readers are with you through out the development of this series. So yea its been forever since Chap 19, but if we were reading our favorite book series from some famous author we would read the whole book in a day and have to wait a year or more to get the next taste of action. With this series we know what motivates you, we know what delays the series, we know that we are never going to stop reading this series.
So take all the time you want, Joe.
However I do agree that if Chap 20 ends in another cliffhanger after this long wait we riot, not really but there is no reason to tease a captive audience.
