Hey guys! Hope Christmas shopping hasn't driven you crazy yet!
Chapter 45 should be out either Sunday morning or Monday morning. Depends how much I can get done but, as always, I'm shooting for as early as possible. Hope you're all doing well and I'll see you soon

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and are comfortably digesting without putting yourselves through too much stress for holiday shopping. Didn't do any shopping myself, if only because I still have nightmares from when I worked retail on Black Friday.
Anyway, it's time to do the Reality Check:
    - Craig talking with Jack after a period of silence happened way more often than I would have liked in high school. Personally, I absolutely despise the silent treatment and always did my best to talk out anything bothering me with my friends...which put me in the tiny minority of people who actually did. As such, I basically had to wait for them to come to me.
    - The character I based Rhona off of actually did have a 'title' she liked being referred to as, although I never did. Like Jack, I once called her by her 'title' to basically placate her and she immediately jumped down my throat. I thought she would have liked it but apparently it wasn't 'me'.
    - My cousin just recently got a boyfriend (different name) and the conversation went pretty much exactly like how Jack and Tara's did, with some slight alterations.
    - Jack's conversation with Amanda about trying to get Joe back as a friend was based off a similar one I had with a female friend of mine when I asked her if it was okay to still be friends with her ex-boyfriend (he hadn't cheated on her but it was a nasty breakup). Originally, I had planned for this conversation to be with Belle, but...well, the story didn't turn out that way (much to my surprise). It's always kind of nice when the story can surprise you.
    - My family never had a Thanksgiving get-together the same size as the one the Hannigans did in this chapter (my family lived very far from our nearest family member), but the topic of my college choice was one that dominated the Thanksgiving of my Junior year.
    - Jack's use of the website, it's content, and it's result are all exactly how I chose my college, though I actually made my decision back in 8th grade and never saw a reason to change it.
Work on Chapter 45 is going well and I'm hoping to get two more chapters out before the end of the year. Just so you all know, Chapter 45 is going to be the last chapter of the Fracture Saga, but the first chapter of the next saga (whose title I will keep to myself for right now) is a necessary one to get out as soon as possible and I think it's a fitting chapter to end the year on.
Also, I will be taking a road trip with my wife at the end of December for a week, meaning I will not be able to write or update. Just figured I'd let you guys know.
Hope you're all doing well and I'll see you again soon

    Hey everyone!
So I was making my yearly list of the things I'm most thankful for and the shortlist basically goes like this: my beautiful wife, my friends, my health...and all of you.
As much as I love my story, I doubt I'd have been inclined to continue it without all of you here to read and support me. I never thought, when I started this series, that it would go this long, nor that it would get the response and support that it has. You are all wonderful readers and it's such a joy to read your thoughts and theories, even if they are completely insane. It's the greatest feeling an author can have to know that his fan scan stick around so long after the story has started and still enjoy it just as much as they did when it started. So this Thanksgiving, I'm giving a big shout-out to all of you. You're all wonderful fans, amazing readers, and close friends.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope you're all spending it without someone important to you.
    Love, Joe

    Hey everyone!
Sorry for the lack of updates (again) but I've been working like crazy. My wife and I are planning to take a trip to visit the Midwest at the end of December so I've been working extra to save money. Hasn't stopped progress on the story but I am sorry that the updates here have been lacking. Hasn't stopped me from reading all of your posts and theories. Always a treat!
Anyway, onto the Reality Check for the past two chapters:
    - Jack's voyeuristic streak is somewhat of a personal confession. I haven't experienced it the way he has but I am self-aware enough to know that I probably would have reacted the same way were I in the same situation. It was difficult writing about it but it has introduced new dynamics for the character.
    - The prom night (sans the sex parts) is almost exactly like how my Junior prom was.
    - Jack dancing with Rhona is based off of something I did with a high school coworker of mine at my last job (she was 17, I was 22 so there was no funny business). She'd been unable to attend prom so I gave her a short dance to the music over the PA system. Wasn't great music but it was something, at least.
    - What happened at Craig's party is a combination of something that actually happened at a Halloween party I attended and something that happened with a couple of guys I knew (their reactions were identical to Joe and Sam's)
    - Likewise, Jack's fears of how the school would react once they heard all about it were very similar to my own.
    - The way Jack described Catcher in the Rye was exactly how I described it to my English teacher after we were done reading it. My feelings on it have changed since then. My teacher was delighted with my response.
    - I had a blowup like Jack's when I finally had enough of my campaign buddy's obsession. It may have been almost word-for-word, come to think of it.
Hope everyone's doing well and keeping warm. I know the winter is coming on fast (Winter is Coming) so hope you're all bundled up and ready for the holidays. I'm going to endeavor to get the next chapter out before Thanksgiving.
    See you all soon!
On a more sober note, please send your best thoughts and prayers to the people of France. I don't know if I have any French readers but I have had a couple of friends in France (they are safe) but let's come together just for a little bit and keep them in our thoughts. <3

    Chapter 39 is up!
This is another milestone chapter, not because of what's in the chapter necessarily, but more because...well, it's my last chapter I'm posting from where I live now. I've been posting chapters while living in this apartment for over a year now but, thankfully, the wife and I are moving to a house so, now, hopefully I'll get a bit more inspiration from being able to sit on the back deck with a beer and some nibbles and not have to deal with shrieking pot-smokers two feet away. Ah, the joys of life.
We hope to be moved in by Friday so you probably won't hear anything from me until then, but I'll still be starting work on Chapter 40 (holy crap...Chapter 40! And I didn't think I'd make it to Chapter 4!)
    See you all soon!

    Hey everyone!
So, next chapter should be out this weekend Hopefully, anyway. There's a little chunk of it still left to write. I know where I want it to go so it should go smoothly, but you never know. I'll keep you updated.
I'm loving all the theories. Again, I'm not going to confirm or deny anything directly but I'll just say this: the reason I love Game of Thrones so much is that, whenever there's a 'twist', it earns it in a realistic sense, which makes it all the more gut-wrenching. It's not done purely for the cinematic purpose of it. I try to make my writing the same way. I don't want to throw in huge twists just because of the 'ZOMG!' factor; I want to earn that by having things smoothly transition together so that it feels like there's no way it could have gone otherwise. Like real life.
    Confused? You'll understand.
One last thing: BashfulScribe recently posted his new story on xnxx. Almost at once, he got his by the downvoting douches, particularly ToucanPlay, and a bunch of others who used hax and whatnot for multiple downvotes at once. He posted this on his forum and the ratings have since gone back up, but if you get the chance, please go to the site and give him a boost? He really deserves it, especially since he had the guts to go back to a site I never plan on posting on again.
Hope you're all well and see you soon!

    Hey everyone!
WOW! Well, that kinda shuts me up about the lack of updates, huh? I didn't mean that I was demanding more or anything; I'm just kind of a worrywart. I've had bad things happen when people I know go silent and...well, you guys are the best readers/fans imaginable and the last thing I want is for anything bad to happen to any of you. Glad to know you're all still there and doing well
    Anyway, onto the Reality Check:
    - Jack's thoughts on Rhona are developing much the same way as mine with the friend Rhona is based on. I'm not going to say more in case of spoilers but it's kind of surprising how well it is lining up. I try not to make any of my characters exactly like the people I know, just in case of...copyright? I don't know. But needless to say, it's fun writing her.
    - Nothing has happened between me and my cousin like what happened with Jack and Tara (and it's not going to), but their conversation is based on some that we've had over the years, particularly about the guys who have screwed her over (that's where my cousin and Tara line up exactly). It was kind of hard to write since it recalls less-than-happy memories for her but I'd be doing her a disservice by sugarcoating it.
    - God...I know conversations like the one between Jack and Jessica too well. Seriously, I've had too many of them over my teenage years and beyond.
    - I tried doing that handstand thing that Alan did at a hangout similar to the one in the story. It...did not go well.
    - To the particular commenter asking why I named a character after myself...I just happened to. But if you want a more detailed explanation, you can kind of break it down like this: Jack is how I think, Joe is how I act. Not completely and totally, but for the most part.
    Now for Bad Idea Confessional:
There was originally going to be a brawl between Jack and Kayla versus Craig and the two bruisers he brought with him. Scrapped because I was saving up for Homecoming and because I didn't see how the police couldn't get involved with that one. Basically, I didn't want the story to turn into a long series of fights. I thought it best to have Craig make cutting remarks and then save the fight for Homecoming.
Well, that's all for that. As for other business, I've started working on the next chapter. Its...weird. Mainly because I'm back at the first day of school, but without having to use it as the basis for introductions. Now I've got a cast of fleshed-out characters who are returning, begrudgingly, to school. It's a weird sort of feeling and meant I started off a little slowly, but it's starting to pick up now, mainly because I convinced myself that deep, in-depth descriptions of every single class are not absolutely required.
In another bit of news, BashfulScribe has just posted the first chapter of a new story. It's fantastic. If you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, it's called 'The Good, The Bad, And the Molly'. Give it a read. You won't be disappointed.
Well, that's all the news I have for now. I'll keep you all posted with the next chapter. In the meantime...God, I love the theories you guys come up with. I won't comment on them, since I don't want to even directly reveal spoilers, but it's always amusing how crazy or even scarily accurate some of them are. You'll just have to keep reading to find out.
    See you soon!

    Hey everyone! Update time!
So I've been plowing through Chapter 36, trying to get it out in time for my birthday. Kind of my birthday gift to all of you. I'm hoping it's out before then but, if not, I definitely want to get it out the day itself, especially since Jack and I share birthday So that's the best timeline I can give you for right now.
    Anyway, onto the Reality Check:
    - The awkward drive home is reminiscent of so many awkward drives I've had with family and friends. It's always fine if we're in a comfortable silence but awkward silence? Makes the car ride three times as long.
    - I worry very much the same way as Jack when I'm waiting to hear back from someone. I check my phone every few seconds, certain that I felt a vibration. It's gotten to the point where I'll feel a tremor in my leg, just because I'm so desperate to hear back from whoever I was texting.
    - Jack's tense conversation with his father is very similar to tense conversations I've had with my own father. In fact, I think I may have taken it verbatim from an argument we had, just changing the context a bit.
    - Jack 'warming up' to Rhona is very much how I myself warmed up to her real-life counterpart. For me, it was a bit more gradual than Jack, but since there is so much more to work through, I figured that dragging it out was probably not the best plan, especially since I don't want things too cluttered in the coming future.
    - Jack's argument with Kayla was, I hate to say it, modeled after some arguments I've had with my wife. The ones with my wife were not as severe as the one between Jack and Kayla but I still had her read it and give her permission before I posted it, just to make sure she was okay with it.
And now for Bad Idea Confessional:
    - When Amanda was seducing Jack by having him handcuffed to the bed, I was originally going to have Kayla see it and it was going to drive a wedge between them. I dropped it for a couple reasons. First, everybody was already suggesting it and I wanted to do something a little more unexpected. Second, I felt it was too cliché and wouldn't make sense given how I'd already laid out their rooms and I'd have to come up with a plausible reason why Kayla would look out at that exact moment...it was just too much. I scrapped the idea for the better, I think, and Kayla is still unaware of what Amanda did to Jack...so far.
Working as hard as I can on Chapter 36 and I'm hoping it turns out as well as I need it to. This is one where everything kind of comes to a head and I really hope it lives up to expectations.
    See you guys soon!

Chapter 34 is up!!! So glad I was able to get it out before we head out the door
Anyway, Happy One Year to She is the One! Can't believe it's been a whole year since I started this story. It's weird to think that I've been writing these characters and this story for so long that, now, I can't imagine life without them. They're as much a part of me as the real people I interact with because, well, you guys make them real. You discuss them and their thoughts and decisions, debate the 'right' thing to do, come up with predictions for what's gonna happen next. Honestly, I couldn't have made it this far without you guys. For all the ups and downs of the story, you guys have been the most awesome, most amazing, most wonderful readers and author could ask for and it's because of you that we've gotten this far and will go even further.
Here's to another year of twists and turns to come I get back on Monday and will post the Reality Check then. Take care guys and enjoy and thank you again

    Halfway done!
I'm hoping to get the chapter done by at least Saturday morning. My wife and I are flying with my family out to Iowa for my grandfather's birthday. He's recently been moved to a nursing home so we're doing our best to make him happy and really cheer him up by having the whole family there. I'll be gone from Saturday-Monday so I wanna at least get the chapter out before I leave so there's not a big gap in my posts.
Btw, love all the theories and ideas. Honestly, I've considered making standalone 'WTF' stories based on She Is The One, just to incorporate the insanity.
    See you guys soon!

Realized I had a couple other things to address:
First of all, @COJimmyV, don't worry: both of your points have already been addressed in my newest chapter and there's going to be more about them coming up. Good catch, though.
Second, I will not be writing a chapter from someone else's perspective. I'm aware that would add some variety but, at this point, I'm a little hesitant about changing up the POV, especially with all the development the characters have already had. I might do a standalone piece at some point from one of the other characters' perspectives but the main POV is gonna stay Jack, mainly because I'm a guy and I understand how guys think. Trust me, if I pretended to know how girls think internally, I'd be squashed. Call it limited ability but the whole shift in perspective thing just doesn't seem within my capacity at this point, not like with nivek_88 (who introduced it early enough).
Third, I'm gonna have to make a poster at some point with all these crazy ideas. Zombie Walburn, Walrus Tara...we'll see what else pops up as the chapters continue.

Well, this is gonna be a long one.
First of all, to answer a question from before, here is the breakdown of the Sagas:
    Kayla Saga: Chapters 1-8
    Jessica Saga: Chapters 9-15
    Tara Saga: Chapters 16-22
    Twins Saga: Chapters 23-28
    Summer Saga: Chapters 29-present
As for the whole emotional aspect of the chapter...well...
Okay, I'll be doing this in place of the normal Reality Check, since, aside from some jokes and familiar feelings, actual events in this chapter are not based entirely on real-life. That's part of what made it so difficult to write. Instead, I'll just kinda share with you the process that went into writing this chapter.
At first, I had planned to have the threesome be your normal spank-story threesome: girl-on-girl, screaming orgasms, everyone laying in a sweaty, hazy post-orgasmic mess at the end. Almost as soon as I started actually writing the sex itself, everything seemed to change. My original ideas just didn't seem to fit with the characters. That's one thing I've noticed at this point in the story: I can set the scenario but the characters play it out. I've developed them enough to where I'm just chronicling stuff they have already done; they're saying their own dialogue, making their own decisions, and I'm just here to put it down like I'm writing their memoirs. As such, I found that trying to force the 'sexiness' of the threesome onto the characters just didn't make sense. That's not how they would act or behave and despite being 'young' and sex being a 'fun' act, they are people, not constructs. Sex may be 'fun' in a general sense, but so is Disney and I can name you a bunch of my friends who despise Disney. What is fun is not fun for every case.
As for the idea that there may be too much in the way of 'emotional suckerpunches'...I agree. There really is. I was saying the exact same thing my sophomore year of high school, when it seemed like it was one blow after another to my self-esteem or my ego or my mentality or my relationships or...whatever. Hell, that was the year I almost committed suicide and had a certain gun not been loaded at the time, I would not be here to tell this story. Trust me, it was a closer call than I care to think about. Now, this is not to belittle opinions that maybe this is getting a little too overloaded with emotional baggage but, trust me, the Saga isn't over yet. All I ask for is patience. If, by the end of the Saga (or even the story itself, though God knows what chapter that will be), you still feel the same way, I won't begrudge you your opinion. But trust me, the way Jack thinks and acts is exactly how I did at his age. If he has a 'mental disorder' then so did I. Actually, I still would, since I still think that way a lot of the time, though I've learned to control it.
One of the hardest things for me, as a writer, is realizing that how I think/speak/act/whatever now is not how a teenager does. Sometimes, I'll write an entire passage and then go back and read it and realize, "Wait a minute...this is how a twenty-something-year-old would act, not a teenager." Then I'll go back and redo it. This is not to say I think all teenagers are over-emotional, mopey, woe-is-me types; just, especially in a situation like this, it's hard not to be, though I like to think Jack isn't a woe-is-me type; when I think 'woe-is-me', I think Bella Swan, a character who deals with no actually big emotional torment but treats it as such and makes no effort to right it. That's the distinction for me: woe-is-me means you aren't doing anything to fix it. Hell, even in the context of the story, the threesome wasn't really gonna go off without a hitch; all the emotions and reasoning was transferred over from Christmas and remember how well that went? One doesn't just forget that and decide that they'll make something that was so heavily based off of emotion suddenly a fun romp under the sheets.
I realize that this may not sway opinions and I'm fine with that. This is just where I'm coming from when I write. And if you really want some reassurance, the next chapter isn't going to be near as heavy and in a couple chapters, and old familiar face will return. So...there's my tease for the next couple chapters
You guys are amazing and I really value your opinions. Believe me, I never take criticism personally; not unless you're calling me a 'niggr' or something like that for no particular reason. I just thought some explanation was in order, especially since there seems to be some sullen feelings coming out of this chapter. I can't promise that happy-go-lucky, relaxing filler chapters are on the horizon, but I do know that there is some sunshine on the horizon for the characters so...again, tease
Thank you so much for your continued support and encouragement. I've already started writing Chapter 34 and it's looking to be a lot easier to write. See you guys soon
    -Joe

    Chapter 33 is up!
Also, this is my 100th posting on this forum! Two milestones at once! Not bad.
Again, I apologize that this chapter took a bit longer to come out. You all have been so wonderful and supportive about it, but I still owe it to you to get new chapters out as soon as possible, if only so you aren't left dangling. This was a tough one to write, I'm not gonna lie. It ended up turning out very different than I originally intended but, well...that's how it goes with writing. I just found my original idea wasn't working out and followed this path. It might not be the happiest, but...well, you'll see when you read. No spoilers at this point.
I'm gonna take some days off to recover and then I'll be plowing ahead. Hopefully, the next chapter will be back on schedule. Fingers crossed
Thank you all so much for your support. It really does mean the world to me. Hope you enjoy reading!

The end of the chapter is in sight! I'm aiming to have it done by the weekend and it looks like it will be

Sorry this took a while and I really hope it will be worth the wait. It's almost certainly not going to be the longest of the chapters but it has been one of the most difficult in terms of writing (not even counting the problems I was having a couple weeks ago). So hopefully it will all come together in the end

    Updates to come.

Well, crossed over a major hurdle in the chapter. This may have been the most difficult section for me to write thus far, since I had to constantly go back, revise, rewrite, just to get it exactly as it needed to be. Hopefully, this means that the rest of the chapter will fly by, but I'm not entirely certain. But it should go smoother from here.

So I'm feeling a lot better and the inspiration for the story has come back, full-force. So I'll be plowing ahead, the goal to be to get the story done by the weekend to keep with the schedule. I know...unlikely. Still, if you don't shoot for God, you'll never reach the stars, so we'll see.
Updates to come! And thank you all for your support

Hey everyone! Time for Reality Check!
    - The cabin the gang stays at is modeled after one I stayed at with my family when I was younger. We didn't own it but I always remembered the oddity of its design.
    - Everything involving ranch is pretty much, word-for-word and action-for-action, exactly how my wife introduced me to it. One of a few things she's gotten me addicted to.
    - Jack's thoughts on the hike very much reflect my own whenever I go walking in the woods. I live in an area that doesn't really allow free-roaming through woods (they prefer we use paths, but I've been on more than a few walks in the woods themselves and it's always a very 'poetic' experience for me.
    - Jack's thoughts and reactions to The Golden Compass were exactly my own. The trilogy itself, His Dark Materials, are my favorite books of all time and I've lost count of the number of times I've read them. (side note: hugely disappointed with the movie. I understand they wanted to avoid the controversy of the book but they really missed the mark on what made the story so unique).
    - I was very disappointed with Avengers: Age of Ultron. One of the most disappointing theater-going experiences of my life. Probably not as bad as Prometheus and Les Miserables (which I couldn't wait to see and which ended up being horrendous) but still a massive disappointment to me. Thankfully, I saw Mad Max: Fury Road a couple weeks later, which more than made up for it (seriously, if you haven't seen it yet, go do so ASAP)
    - While my wife and I have not have a threesome yet, Jack's thoughts are very much the thoughts that have gone through my head when my wife and I have talked about it in the past. Don't know how I would react in real life (since it hasn't happened yet) but I imagine I'd be thinking very much as he did if presented with a surprise like that.
And, since I wanted to add a bit to these posts, my Bad Idea Confessional:
    - I had originally planned to have Kayla break up with Craig at the end of Chapter 2, her having caught on very quick to his act and dumping him. I realized fairly quickly that such an act would render her going out with him and becoming his girlfriend almost completely pointless. Yes, she does eventually dump him, but only after enough time to get wise to him and realize that Jack is a better choice in a more realistic way. I think I was just so eager to get them together that I forgot that proper development was required. I actually was in the process of writing the section when I stopped, thought about it, then redid it. I think it ended up working well, since Jack and Kayla actually had some time to get to know each other first and for Craig's actually douchiness to present itself; as douchey as he was, he would make an effort to keep it a bit more downplayed, at least at first.
Gonna start Chapter 33 soon. Got plenty of ideas in my head for how it should go so hopefully it should be quick, but not so quick that I have to sacrifice quality. See you soon!

    Chapter 32 is finally up
Sorry for the delay. I wanted to wait until the forums were done being upgraded and, by the time they were, I was busy helping my neighbors move so that took up a few more hours. However, all is well, and the chapter is up for you to enjoy
And, since I will be out of town and unable to post tomorrow, I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day. Whether you're serving in the armed forces, have a relative who does, or are a civilian, I hope that you spend the day with the ones you love and remember the bravery and sacrifice of those who've passed in service of our country. My family is almost entirely military (I have a family member in every branch of the military) so it means a lot to us but I don't think you're required to be a military-child or anything else to fully appreciate it. To all those who serve or who have served, thank you so much for your courage and know that I keep you in my thoughts and prayers every day that I'm able to live happy and free.
Hope you all enjoy the chapter and I'll see you again soon

    Hey everyone!
Sorry the forum's been so quiet, especially in regards to updates. I've been plowing away at the chapter and I hope to get it out by this weekend. I've just found myself so exhausted recently (maybe overnight shift is finally catching up to me). My days have literally been writing, eating, sleeping, and working, not necessarily always in that order. I'm shooting for Sunday at the latest but it's hard for me to tell at this point. The end of the chapter is in sight, but the path to it may be longer than I think; often what I think may take only a page or two to describe ends up needing a bit more. Still, it's progressing smoothly and hopefully you will all be able to enjoy it this weekend
    Updates to follow!
