I was wrong! More reviews for Corrupt the Midwife! Yay!
Thank you for these reviews! I really appreciate getting them, it’s always great to get feedback. I’m really glad you enjoyed it, too, because it means there’s gotta be some good in there!
...or just Fantasy!Trixie getting drunk and horny :p She did have fun with Trixie, but surely a little sympathy that she didn’t get off at the end? On the other hand, there’s worse ways to be tormented!
I don’t always see the new Call the Midwife episodes right off myself – I really liked Chummy’s character way back, and it feels ages since she left. Still, got some good characters there still.
Thank you for the reading, and for reviewing!
I’d answer questions but you’ve already read the next one and got the answers – no physical harm meant, just making a play for her soul… and Chummy gives a bit of a forceful lesson of her views in the nature of pleasure and sin herself!
Heh, full advantage Chummy, “Gosh, you’re flexible. Can you put your ankles behind your head do you know?”
It’s been really great of you to read and review this at anytime! I hope that things are going ok/better for you at least. Hasn’t been the same around the forum without you!
So what would have happened… Chummy would have become a succubus hybrid, and sent to try and tempt others into perverted sin. She may have been successful and eventually died and gone to Shannon’s corner of Hell, which is actually less unpleasant than some of them. Alternatively, one or more of the Nuns might have twigged and found a way to redeem her, and save her soul despite the deal she’d have made. It’s the same Shannon who appears at the end of You! when she’d gone blonde, and is seeking her own redemption.
Monica Joan’s radical younger years probably had more than a few shocking events for the time… “...so then I found he wanted me to sound him with my knitting needle. Well, what could I do?”
I’m glad you liked the ending! A chunk more sex there with real Trixie instead of fantasy!Trixie to round it off, I can see how it does come across as a bit of an add on after the previous part, but at least Chummy got to come…
Have to wonder what some of the Nuns get up to in their rooms as well. Heh.
Thank you again! I hope it bears up to re-reading. Sounds like you got a bit more out of it being a fan of the series. I think given the brief nature of the prompts it probably helps to fill in the stuff there wasn’t room to explain to non-fans. Maybe.

How do you think your writing has changed over time? What lead to those changes? Do you remember every story you write?
I am not much of a writer, but I get and itch of an idea and must scratch it down once in a while. I have a smattering of stories written over the last 20 years, and I have forgotten about most of them. I stated that I never wrote erotica before, but apparently that isn’t true because I found one that I wrote 5 years ago - for an obscure home-brew video game of all things - and it was awful. I have no memory of writing it at all, so everything in it was a surprise. I realize how much I have changed even over 5 years – a better sense of reality, or depth, perhaps. Yet, I found another fanfic written even earlier, and I was on the edge of my seat and mad that I left it on a cliffhanger. I might even go back and try to finish and clean it up. So, it isn’t linear.
How do other writers reflect on their past stories?

They like to feel needed. I had a boyfriend once who was genuinely affronted that I replaced a malfunctioning toilet cistern while he was asleep, as if I'd stolen the job from him. This despite the fact that we worked together, and every night he used to observe me climbing into dangerous machinery with a toolbox to dismantle it, and later rebuild it.
I'm afraid I have no patience whatsoever. *shakes head*

I don’t know… I suppose it depends on the characters, really. My chapters are around 5k, and some of my scenes span over two or three chapters at a time. But then, there are three of them, so that might make a difference.
If there’s such a kind of idiot, then I am definitely it, and I make no apology! I think of the characters first, then wonder how I’m going to get them to go ‘at it’ then the story comes along. In that order. But that ’s fanfic. It’s probably different if you write original.

Of course! The horrible stuff is only fun if its got a purpose! Okay, that’s a lie. Sometimes its fun to write horrible shit just to write horrible shit. But it’s more fun to read when it’s got a point! … Okay that’s a lie too. Stories I like best are the crazy, pointless, horrific shit I wandered onto via pure, unadulterated morbid curiosity.
I forget what I was trying to say...

Just goes to show you everyone’s threshold of ‘intense’ varies! I think maybe you made the right decision on your story to be on the safe side. When something really bad happens in my fic, it’s usually for a plot reason, lol. Hey, I see you giving me the side eye over there!
That one episode of Supernatural was enough vore for me for a lifetime...

As one of the mods, I’d say it’s a fairly subjective thing. Clearly some stories, especially those that list every tag and mean them, do require a ++ rating, without doubt. But I would say some of the stories tagged ++ here haven’t really hit that territory. I tag ++ for things like rape, extreme brutality, and other things which might trigger a reader. I’d actually use the ++ for a forced late-term abortion, honestly, even if only semi-graphic. It’s definitely a trigger issue for readers.

Yeah, that one’s harder to quantify for sure but it sounds like you know what you’re doing. I agree with erring on the side of caution; it really didn’t even occur to me that I could be triggering someone inadvertently but oh welp, I guess it’s a good thing I had it at ++ in the first place! My tagging is a bit ad hoc – I typically have an idea of what kind of scenes are going to be in the story, and I try to tag in advance for them because I want everyone to be cool with that going in. I’ve had to delete some when I cancel plans for scenes (and sometimes I just outright forget why I added that tag in the first place!).

I kinda had the same issue, not knowing how much was too much. I think I’ve only rated ++ on one fic, and that’s just because that fic had a few really violent sex scenes and human trafficking was a recurring theme in detail. So I pretty much agree with the others – the subject matter plays the biggest part in my decisions. Like if a fic had a lot of really graphic sex but was a standard erotic romance, I wouldn’t tack on that extra +. Unless that romantic erotica involved like… scat. Or super graphic vore. Okay I gotta stop thinking of things I’d go ++ for. My depraved imagination is having a little too much fun with priests and tentacles now.

It’s weird to answer. My darker stories I tend to go for ++ because my darker stories involve a lot of psychological cruelties, and I can’t in conscience say that they are easy to read in any sense. So I tag for that rather than the content, though the content alone would require it. My others… I do tend to get fairly descriptive. I see so many stories proudly proclaiming a sex scene, so I settle in, and there’s like three or four paragraphs, and I think I kind of go for more. And when I tag for something, I really often mean it.
I’m sure there are some stories of mine that only need the one +, and there are even some that are SFW. I’ve probably overrated them all to be on the safe side. I’m not interested in triggering anyone. I want people to have fun/be entertained reading my stories. Sometimes I want them to be horrified, but then I want that to happen for the reasons they should be, not because they encountered something they didn’t expect.

Yeah, I had a three week block on one story as I stopped in the middle of a speech where one char was setting up a prank that tied into the final challenge and close. When I came back to the tale, all I had was the look of mischief in one character’s eyes and the sinking feeling in the POV that they might not find the learning experience was not going to be fun for them.
And that was ALL I remembered about the next sentence and scene. I knew where the tale would end, but this is fluff with serious undertones, so it was no joy buzzer prank.  So I really empathize with getting lost.
I originally wrote most stories with rotating 1st person POV, and I got to calling each persona like a Lon ballcap I could put on, and then the next lead’s ball cap.  I’ve noticed the ballcaps were stronger the characters had a stronger voice and smaller canon. The SW ones now are wispier. Anyone else remember the Bugs Bunny/Elmer Fudd toon where new hats kept landing on their heads and they’d swap from hunter to judge to bride and groom? That’s the way I handled it for a while.

Wow, I think I’m such a jealous bitch I’d rather kill my babies than let someone adopt them. You can totally quote me on that when I end up on the news someday
Super impressive, and yes, I love that having multiple projects lets you work on something else for a while if one blocks you out; I’m starting to rid myself of the irrational terror of having more than one active story, haha. You guys with your 7 year hiatuses and I don’t even think I’ve held on to any single idea for that long, lol.

I have far too many cool ideas for my time and RL ability to record them.  On occasion I manage to farm them to another writer in a story comment.  Got one adopted just last night.  I only use Excel during a complex plot or combat. For story ideas, I keep ideas in plain text files by broad topic areas. Right now I have one for original fiction, for Star Wars fics, for DA, and for NWN. I also have a folder on my desktop where I drop shortcuts for possible blog posts. These files all grow faster than they shrink.
But answering the original posting (got the digest late today)  I have three SW fics, one big and two smaller, posted within the last month. Two others are ready to start as soon as I close at least one down.
I have a whole bunch of hiatus’d stories, that I want to continue. Most stopped from block, and some as I realized that juggling more than three brings me to a stop in all of them. Of course I don’t like having only one as swapping stories lets me sidestep block most of the time. Three stories seems to be my sweet spot.
Raw Counts: Book4 choices, Book3 AMT, side novella AMT, DA2 alt, another DA2 alt, Serial original novella. And two original novels awaiting enough cash to get an dev editor.  Only one or two SW are hiatused, and I know one will start the sequel before Easter. I’m getting better at keeping a lid on new stories. All hiatused are less than seven years, most less.  Three active, ten hiatus, and 2 in between. I think I’ll stop babbling now.

Damn… well, I just had a quick look through my profile here. Discounting fic I have going that is joint fic, I have 12, of which 10 I fully intend at some point to finish (if I ever get around to it). Of my joint fic, I intend to finish all of those, which total another three. I also have a number of stories that I haven’t posted on my hard drive that I need to work on, and most of those are original, which brings the grand total to around 18 altogether.
    *hides*
I am awful… I know. I swear I have finished some! There are some finished stories on my profile!

The atmosphere in all of them is completely different, so really it’s not overwhelming… even if I think of them all at the same time. They all have a different character as a story. The two I’ve had to drop forever are the two that I don’t remember where I was going. That can happen. But it’s like having a wardrobe full of different outfits. I like that sensation of choice.   Some of them I work on and don’t post, so some of them have future chapters, and are just waiting for me to write the linking chapters to them so that I can post more.

The more stories I try to write, the harder the character creation process seems to get! I don’t want them to sound too much like each other (and since I’m almost always writing in first person, differentiating protagonist povs makes me cry fr). Maybe I’ll try that!
Daaaang @CloverReef just exploded into skittles somewhere… That’s actually really cool if you can manage them well, but I can imagine all of it getting really overwhelming really fast.
