Ahh… at the risk of sounding selfish, I’ve fought my way here, through hordes of christmas shoppers, through horrendous traffic, through work that involved retrieving a broken pint glass from, well… less said the better. I’ve carried, spent up, spent over an hour trying to fit everything in the fridge, got covered in sellotape wrapping presents, and I’ve done it all in the ever present bloody miserable cold and pervasive sense of impending doom that is Brexit.
I want to have my fun now, even if it is nearly two o’clock in the morning. I want to write. I need to. Before I have to wash my hands again for the millionth bloody time. *sighs*
Besides which, I’m pretty much getting into character. Can’t you just sense it? He’s here! The moody git… he won’t be moody after this. And neither will I. That’s the point. Or one of them, at least.

If I ever get my hands on the dirty bastard who shoved a pint glass down the gents toilet, it’ll be a halloween story of sorts. But then, the same gang were thrown out the club, and kicked off a load of trouble outside. They were searching through the cctv for the police this morning, because they’d been throwing glasses at the takeaway next door and nearly hit someone. So maybe they will get prosecuted for a public order offence. We can hope.

No… just an ordinary chapter. Albeit one where Clegane actually smiles a bit.

Ages ago, I talked one author out of a complete withdrawal, (due to serious medical issues), pointing out that their fics (non-AFF) were a nice legacy, something that his nephew (who started him writing HP fanfic) would eventually treasure.  I know the lack of reviews/response can be frustrating, or the self-doubts gnaw, I struggle with those too, however, stories are tales, generally enrich us all, and can be a good legacy once we’re dust.

I did once pull everything I posted from AFF. Unfortunately one of the stories wasn’t backed up like I thought and I lost it. I can’t remember why, but I had ‘em back up before too long so it can’t have been too serious.

PippyChick: Yeah, I notice that myself and that's probably the reason now.  Just posted something new and yeah...  While I know comparing does nothing, I've found it happening with this one…
DP: I wish I could say it was a big check...  I'd pull it there.  Still thinking no publisher will take the one I'm prepping...

Haven’t gotten quite that way, mostly.  Though I have pulled forum posts, I don’t ever want to really be in the position of pulling stories … unless there’s a big check involved for doing so

I do tend to get trigger happy with the delete button. Either from a bad review (which is a terrible reason to pull a story, and I’d advise against it lol) or because an overwhelming silence breeds doubt and makes me think the story had something wrong with it, but I don’t know what so I get super self conscious about it. There’s only been two times in my many years here when I seriously wanted to pull all my shit. And that had everything to do with toxic friends making me want to disappear.

I can’t say I can relate to what you’re feeling. I probably can’t. At least not the scale of it. But I hope you come out of it. Your stories are epic and endlessly entertaining. I adore them, even if I don’t always show it with my beta hat on. It’d be a shame if they weren’t out in the world for people to enjoy.

It may not be true for anyone else, I can only speak for myself, but what I’ve noticed is that when I feel that way, it’s usually everything to do with me, and nothing to do with anyone “out there” if that makes sense. Often, when I find the joy of the story again, the feeling passes. And I’m usually worse just after posting. It’s the nature of how we share our work, I think. It sends us off on a rollercoaster every time.

Yeah.  Keep fighting through it all.  I would say I'm surprised, but it's probably something everyone goes through.  And I don't think there's any good answer to fit everyone, just push through the minefield.

I think about it daily, to be honest, especially when I’m in a funk like I am now—unable to find time to write, and unable to write when I steal a few minutes.
All I can say is to hang in there, and tell the stories which are in your head. They’ll drive you nuts until you write them anyway (and then drive you even battier once you do). But even if no one else cares, write for you, and that one faithful reader.

Oh, Gods… Tcr, I feel like that at least once a week. So sorry you feel like it too
I don’t know what the answer is… just scrape through somehow, usually, until you feel better.

    I love my dogs.
Well… I’ve done the tree, and made a list of things. I’ve also made a shopping list.
But now I’ve been made to pay for making a shopping list by way of a ridiculous argument followed by sulking and slamming doors. I give up.
I’m just going to reread the fic, see if I can have the words arrange themselves in some kind of order again. Because seriously, I just can’t be here. I need something fun.

lol… at least I won’t have to peel any plum tomatoes for christmas dinner. I haven’t had the energy to make a bolognese sauce for weeks.

Two happy dogs… well, they’re happy if I say so. I realise the greyhound looks a little bit like a mouse. She’s bigger than the white one… honest

This represents the exact level of my holiday spirit. I’m going to try and knock off shopping on Monday and Tuesday, if only to make my mother stop poking me. I am looking at the unaddressed cards, and sighing. I need to purchase stamps anyway. The only bright spot is having lots of wine in the house. If I drink enough wine, I can pretend I’m happy about the holidays...

We once bought a recliner that I swear grew the moment it was delivered, because it certainly didn’t seem that big in the shop.
