@Mal AFF readers, as a whole, tend not to be reviewers as I’ve heard other websites can be.  Your Billion Dollar Harem has ten times the dragon prints of my best story here, so that’s something. 
@KassX Yep, originals here tend to be under-visited and under reviewed.  I record my dragon prints, so that does let me know that people are reading (or most likely reading) my chapter/episode posts.

I suppose I should clarify what I mean by elitists. I wasn’t trying to suggest that people who write original aren’t friendly and willing to help. I think all the writers on this site seem more than willing to do that. What I meant was that I think most people, especially for whatever reason, those on this site tend think that original fiction is somehow superior to all other genres and that specifically celeb fiction some how the is lowest in the order condescendi.
I mean, if you just look reviews. A great many stories in the original section have a plethora of people reviewing and contributing to the discussion around them. Even stories with not very many dragon prints have reviews. Whereas if you go to the celeb section there are good stories with no reviews, and great stories with just a handful. My own story, Billion Dollar Harem up to until this month only had 2 reviews. And now, only has 3...
To me, that illustrates not only the taboo around celeb fiction, but also to a certain degree the value placed on original fiction over celeb fiction. I personally don’t think any one genre is better or worse than any other, but its hard to deny things like reviews, or the fact that most everyone who posts comments on celeb fiction do so as guests so they can’t be as easily held accountable for what they say, or more specifically what they are talking about…
I don’t know, this could just be something I’ve built up in my head, a bias based on having to carve out an active celebrity thread here on AFF basically by myself and with essentially no interaction with any other writers on this site. Perhaps I’ve done it to myself by sticking to my quiet little corner of the forum… but at the same time, I never really noticed writers of other genre’s walking into my thread to say hello…
Maybe I’ll try to be more active, and see if that helps alleviate some of the bias and taboo around celeb fiction… or at least try to help people understand that its not so different than any other non-original fanfiction genre…

Oh, well I have a rl friend who writes really well-written celebrity fiction (with popular boy bands) and is fairly popular. Even if some people think it’s problematic, well, who really cares what they have to say (as long as you don’t get into legal trouble)? I’ve had Christians tell me my work is satanic (my fantasy YA that I AM trying to get published), and hey, I sympathize but I don’t need their permission or validation. I do know that celebrity fiction gets attention, but original fiction is usually ignored, especially on a site like this. I think it’s interesting you find original fiction writers elitist, because many of my friends on this site  write original and they’ve been the most helpful in terms of orientation and writing tips. I hope I can change your mind about original fiction writers 
And hey, it’s not really my thing but I’m sure you’re a great writer; no one wants to read trash writing even if celebrities are in it 

I appreciate that you think I’m popular. I don’t know if its because my stories are well written, or just simply because they share in the popularity of the celebrities staring in them… I think probably its a bit of both, at least I like to hope so . Anyway, I guess the reason I think of celeb fanfiction as being the redheaded step child is because its notorious. Meaning its well known, and most people think there’s something not quite right about it… It kind of seems to me that the elitists write original fiction… on this site anyway, no offence. But there also seems to be a taboo around celeb fiction that doesn’t exist as much with basically any other genre just because it features real people. Although, I honestly feel once you’ve captured that ‘real’ person in a fiction, that version of them isn’t real… I don’t know if that makes sense...  Thanks KassX for thinking I’m nice though I don’ t know if it’s true. But I do appreciate the sentiment.

I never noticed how many different and unique ranks people had. Most probably because I keep to myself a lot on the forum, since the sub-domain I write in is kinda the redheaded step child of the fanfiction world… At least it seems that way to me.

I did an experiment with the Repair Guy, cutting the chapter lengths down and not fussing so much over perfect prose, as a result, I was pushing out updates every day or two.  I deliberately wanted to keep that fast to write because it was a backstory that, while needed, I didn’t want to dwell on.

It’s definitely a different format and burnout is a killer fr. On the other hand, I kind of enjoy having a weekly turnover. It’s neat, like running a TV show. 

That's the main thing I dislike about publishing a story as it is being written.  My mind can decide to take the storyline in an entirely different direction than what the previous chapters were leading up to.

I have two going right now and it's difficult to bounce back and forth between the two because I have to get myself into a completely different mindset.
I know I put the added pressure on myself by trying to publish a chapter in each at least every 7-10 days.

I haven’t run into issues yet (although the ice cream parlor theme stretches profile pictures in the forum) but I might settle with the dark theme for everyday use; it’s easy on the eyes! 

It’s easy for us to blame ourselves when things go wrong with our pets.  I have two dogs and it’s not always like they can actually tell us what (if anything) is wrong.  Sometimes I think I understand mine, but I’m not always so sure.  (Hugs)

I know, right? I went crazy with them for a while, but then I got frustrated with the font colour issues (Couldn’t see some posts by other people unless I highlighted them) so I gave up on them. It’s a shame, though, kuz themes are awesome!

I’m going to try to focus a bit on writing, see if that helps at all.  I did visit a friend last night on the way home, simply because I knew I couldn’t hold it together.  That did help.  But then, get home, and, well, cat’s no longer here.  I generally don’t cry, rarely get emotional, but this time … it’s a very raw, very real wound
