I just started this yesterday. I haven't seen The Twilight Zone touched a lot on here, and so I figured I'd publish it for anyone interested. In case you don't know the fic is based on the episode "The Obsolete Man" in which The Chancellor (Hans in the story) oversees the execution of a man ruled obsolete. He is trapped in the man's room with a ticking time bomb and in the final moments before the explosion he melts down and reveals his humanity, reacting with cowardice. His punishment is replacement, and though it is inferred that he is killed, I chose a more diplomatic route.
