  1. Yay! I feel accomplished. I posted another chapter! Now I'm starting to feel the caffeine crash. Time for bed.

  2. not guilty Ever passed out while driving?
  3. lol... nope! was just posting because others did! rofl
  4. I am a music madwoman. My recent Sexy pick is: Make my Body Rock by Ari Gold I'm also really enjoying: Love Interruption by Jack White
  5. wow it sounds like you are really sought after already, almost afraid to ask if you'd be willing to look over my stuff. I work mostly in the Inuyasha universe. I don't know what to ask for though. I've never had a beta.
  6. Have a great time! Hawaii is so beautiful, just be sure to bring a lot of sunscrean... My husband and I went there for our wedding anniversary and got burnt to a crisp. Using 30 spf is about as effective as lathering yourself with babyoil
  7. *sigh* my work hours got cut again... grr... I would love all this extra time to write if I wasn't so damn worried about being able to pay bills and eat! Tea and rice is now a normal meal... *sigh* fml

  8. Are we just going with telling our favorite classical books? For me it's a toss up between: The Jungle Book The Picture of Dorian Gray and: The Canterbury Tales
  9. Tomoe's ♥♥ FanFiction Writer's Meme ♥♥ 1. How about a brief introduction of yourself? I’m a smart cookie who has a wonderful supportive hubby and a fluffy puppy. I’m a shopaholic, a gamer, and I love amusing myself. 2. Fabulous! And what got you into fanfiction to begin with? I started writing fanfictions when I was 11, at the prompting of my best friend who got in trouble for spending hours on the phone listening to me make up stories about Beast Wars. A few years later I was posting fanfictions on the internet. 3. I see, so what kind of fanfiction do you like to write? I write mostly Inuyasha fanfics, and I haven’t posted anything for other fandoms in a very long time. 4. Do you tend to write the same pairings/characters? Or are you a fandom whore? I generally write pairings involving Sesshomaru. 5. What is your more popular fanfic and why do you think people like it so? The most popular fanfic I have posted right now… um I think is Spiel Mit Mir, but in the past (the original version) Regenerist was the most popular fic with nominations (and awards) for the Inuyashafanguild. 6. Forget other people, what is the fanfic you've written you're most proud of? This is tough, because I like everything I write, and there are aspects of each fanfic that I find pride in. 7. Do you find writing easy? Hard? What are the most difficult aspects of writing you struggle with? I find writing liberating. Writing is my life, I live for it. I think the imagination part comes easy for me. The most difficult part of writing is the technical aspect. I have many language based learning disabilities, and I work my bottom off trying to compensate for them. ( For instance I didn’t know how to read until I was in 3rd grade, and I have absolutely no concept of phonics) 8. Write a few sentences of so of your favorite pairing or character. Sesshomaru and Inuyasha pairings are my favorite, because they are so damn difficult to write and make believable. In cannon there is no way in hell that that pairing could ever exist, and that makes it very appealing because I LOVE challenges. 9. Are there any fanfiction trends/clichés you can't stand or are just sick of? Lol oh are there! Lol… um… yeah. 1.The overuse of seme/uke concepts in yaoi, I am so friggin sick of it because it almost automatically indicates that there is going to be major OOC and whiny baby shit going on. 2. Also… and this annoys me to no end… the whole beast vs Sesshomaru stuff. At first I thought it was an interesting take, now I have intense disappointment when that comes up in a fic. Why does he have to have split personalities? Really??? 3. The liberal use of Japanese in anime related fics. I understand some words being used because they seem to be synonymous with the fanfiction (ie. Hanyou for halfbreed in Inuyasha). But damnit if you don’t f-ing know the language, don’t try to make every other word… gahhh!! I have an issue with this because I know conversational Japanese (my husband’s family is Japanese) and I cringe with mortification over the idiocy of using the language inappropriately. 10. Are you guilty of any of the fanfiction trends/clichés you now hate? Or any other ones? Not those particular ones… I try to avoid writing anything that is cliché, although I probably don’t succeed. 11. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Do you still like/participate in it? Beast Wars! God, I love that show! I haven’t written anything for it in a very long time, but my experiences writing fanfiction for that have influenced and helped me develop as a writer. 12. Name your OTPs or most frequently written pairings/characters and explain what it is about them you love to write. I am not familiar with the “OTP” thing, but my most frequently written character is Sesshomaru. I love writing about him because I feel that the characterization of him in the show (and manga) leaves a lot of room for creative license. He generally has a lot of air time and very little internal dialog in proportion to that airtime. Plus he falls under my favorite type of character, which I have dubbed the “Dinobot” character. To me characters who are not all good and not all bad, who have some ambiguity about what “side” they are on… yeah, those are my favs! 13. What would you call your writing "style"? Ummm… me? Complex. I like complexity. I like psudoscience or real science in my stories (love science!) I don’t know, once a reviewer compared my writing to Danielle Steel’s works. They meant it as an insult, but there might be some credibility to the claim. 14. Do you read other people's fanfic? If so, what do you find yourself reading the most? Oh yes. I am an avid reader. I actually like reading fanfics over professional works (erotic or not). I read a lot within the Inuyasha fandom, but I also like reading originals, games, and books. 15. Name one thing you'd LOVE to write, but have been too afraid or shy to do. I don’t know. I am a no boundaries kind of person when it comes to my writing. I think the scariest things to write are things that relate to personal grief. 16. Do you have trouble taking criticism? Or worse yet, do you have the dreaded bloated ego? I like criticism. It drives me to examine my work from different perspectives (my bf once told me that my characters needed to play board games because they had too much sex). And I swing wildly back and forth between being completely full of myself when it comes to my writing, and being humbled when I read someone who emulates what I consider to be proficiency. 17. When you write, is there anything that helps? Music? Quiet room? Repairing toaster ovens? Music all the way, music helps me get in the mood for writing. 18. What inspires you? My driving need to escape from reality? 19. Lastly, how would you sum up your fanfiction experiences and yourself as a writer? I cherish my experiences, and I believe writing has helped me grow as a person. I am good at writing, and I enjoy it… always the best part. 20. Tag some friends, because they'll have you for it. Friends? You mean my characters don’t count as friends… lol no really I’m not a nut, I just don’t know too many people on the site yet.
  10. I think it depends on the mood of the scene. I will use vulgar terms if I feel that the scene benefits from it. I use "pretty" terms if I want the scene to come across as romantic. Some technical terms might be easier to use than others. It's very difficult for me to read a sex scene when the language feels disconnected from the mood. Also I don't think that the question of using technical terms when writing about sex has any relevance to whether or not you should use technical terms for breastfeeding. Yes breasts serve reproductive purposes... but... I don't know. I guess I just have a hard time with the idea of lumping sexual slang used in erotica with a process that deals with providing nourishment to infants.
  11. meh... all I've been doing is falling asleep while writing. I thought I could take care of the problem by working on something new, but that has just evolved into 5 active projects with varying levels of sedating powers... and the worst thing is that I'll fall asleep and think I am still writing only to be annoyed later when I cant recapture that perfect thing I wanted to say!

  12. I agree with Hairyhaggis. It is possible for two things to be true at the same time. Bisexuality is a legitimate facet of human sexuality, and in some cultural climates is made into a popular tool for self identifying. Just like: Tanning is a fad among many groups, including young women and girls going to formal events like proms and weddings, and not everyone who sports a tan is going to a salon and oiling up. I think trolling has a lot to do with the intention of the statement and how it is directed at the target audience. For instance as an adult in a culture that celebrates Christimas (American Style) I wouldn't go into an elementary school right before Christmas break and make an announcement that Santa was made up. The kids would cry, and that would be me trolling (saying something with the intention of provoking a incited response). However my decision to tell my children that Santa isn't real so that they don't have their hopes dashed for a new puppy this year when "Santa" can clearly not afford it... that is different. Unfortunately in a written medium (online or good old fashion pen and paper) it is hard to determine intentions, therefore people will perceive trolling in any number of things that oppose their own beliefs.
  13. Any pairing where the writer feels the need to change fundamental parts of their personality. I understand creative license, some pairings are exceedingly difficult to write. But when the author is saying that (guy) is actually a (girl) in disguise and has harbored a secret love for their most hated enemy, and shall thus be known as a different really random name... yeah you lost me there. Yaoi pairings where one of them is made into a crying little girl with no spine, and can easily be swayed by some magical power of sex. While sex is wonderful I fail to see how someone who in cannon has a lot of fortitude can be made into a virtual slave from a good lay. Also along these lines: The whole seme/uke thing... so annoying and overdone! Real life is just not like that, and the propensity of that ideal makes it seem childish. And that is sad because there are some really good stories out there where that terminology/idealism is appropriate. ANY pairing where the victim of rape falls in love with a rapist! If the fic is actually meant to be psychologically damaging and the author has intentions of using stockholm syndrome then it needs to be done realistically. Crossover pairings. Crossovers just dont do it to me. I have a very difficult time understanding the need to meld the Inuyasha/Harry Potter universe together. Specific pairings... well I'm just about open to anything provided it is written well. I am not going to read one story and judge the entire pairing class on a single author's take

  15. I read everything that I write to my husband first. I am best friends with dictionary.com, and I still make mistakes all the time. Honestly editing is the most stressful part of writing. Thank goodness I am getting better at it as I write more. Still I really freak out when I decide to put my stuff out there for people to read, as Hairyhaggis pointed out, what you put out there is a refection of you.

  18. This was helpful. I got to let off some steam, and have reminders about the many factors that go into the lack of author support. I hear what everyone's saying, and DANG it's still so frustruating. Danyealle, I agree that the age of the fandom does impact the reviews. I kinda figured it would when I started reposting. *Shrugs* I have a hard time getting into other fan areas. I've only written fanfictions for two things in my life: Beast Wars, and Inuyasha... and that should tell you just about how often I get into a television show. I guess this is going to be one of those "it is what it is" things. And I am still going to try to review when I can. Ty everyone for talking about it!
  19. Where the heck did all the wonderful support (sappy, silly, and constructive) go to?! When I started posting stories just about ten years ago I was happily recieving multiple reviews with every upload, no matter how crappy it was. And some of them were oh so crappy riddled with mistakes, cliche's, ect... probably from too many nights of staying up till three in the morning and then going to early classes the next day. (At the time I was drowning in my undergraduate research.) I left the fanfiction community for a while. Life happens. But even after leaving the community I always appreciated reviews, good and constructive. I don't say bad because I firmly believe there is a difference between pointing out faults (constructive) and attacking the author personally (bad). It was working with a fanfiction community (particularly this one) that helped me grow not only as a writer, but as a person. Recently I returned to posting fanfictions. I never really stopped writing them, and decided that I was going to just put them out there and see what happened. I didn't expect a huge outpouring of reviews or anything, but after a little while it became very clear to me that there is a stunning lack of support for authors in the fanfiction community. It is disheartening to see so many stories that appear to boast thousands of hits and have a meager 1 or 2 reviews. Really?! What the heck is going on here? Are people so unwilling to say "hey nice story" or whatever? Now I admit I don't read much outside of my chosen fandom (Inuyasha), but I enjoy it. Even the poorly written, crappy spelling, bad plot line fics can bring a smile to my face... mostly because I can remember a time when my writing was just as horrible. I review because I want people to feel like they are growing. I feel like my writing blossomed from reviews, my outlook changed from them. Writing fanfictions has been a giant and awe inspiring influence on my life. Unless I really can't find anything at all good to say about the fic (I think all of us have found them: Troll fics), I make my best effort to leave a review. And I hope by doing so that I am setting a good example, not only to members of the community who read and review only, but to fellow authors. I will continue writing all my life. I know it. It is who I am, and what I live for. But sharing my writing is difficult when there seems to be such an apathetic attitude in the community regarding the works of many good writers, and all of us who are looking for ways to grow. Also, how the heck are people getting thousands of hits for one chapter? Some of the stories that have the most hits and are relatively new are... well... they are. Lets just leave it at that. And I have seen some stories, just as new that are averaging less than 500 hits per uploaded chapter. Is this some kind of lie? I don't know what the right word for it is, but my point is are people conspiring to just sit and constantly click in and out of the story to make it look more readable? I have very quickly learned that the combo of hits and rates is not a particularly good measure of whether or not the story is good, and am baffled that the system appears to be exploited to lure unsuspecting readers in. Especially since there is a serious lack of reviewing to give a better estimate of redability. That being said, I still do like a lot of the poorly written stories. At the very worst they are good for a laugh. Now that I have worked myself up about what I feel (my opinion only) are the responsiblitites of active members of the fanfiction community. I am going to go and review a few things.
  20. author: botticelliangel title: Regenrist summary: This story follows Sesshomaru's life after the end of the series. It takes place in "modern times", the 1990's through now. Sesshomaru's life is not going the way he expected or wanted, both personally and professionally. He is no longer a lord and leader. After centuries he has lost many battles, and is now working for (not of his own will) a world wide organization of demons who endorse the view of demons hiding among humans. Sesshomaru struggles with intense emotional conflict relating to his centuries long off-and-on relationship with Kagura. This conflict is thrown into high gear when he is assigned to watch over a rare type of demon known as a regenrist. This regenerist is the reincarnation of his first love, and the person who changed his life: Rin. Can Sesshomaru find acceptance in his life? And will Kagura and Rin help him lessen his struggles? This story follows an alternate ending as a result of having written the original before the series was ended. I have adapted it to fit the series better with this version. Feedback: Any feedback is very welcome. This site has helped me grow and develope as a writer since I was 18, and I have a lot of respect and gratefulness for those who respond. Fandom: Inuyasha (general) Pairings: Sesshomaru/Kagura, Sesshomaru/Rin Warnings: suicidal ideation/attempts, angst, violence, work in progress, lemon/lime, rape, pregnancy, oral, unresolved sexual tension. I may need to add more warnings later. If I do they will be listed at the beginning of the chapter. URL: http://inu.adultfanf...hp?no=600096793 I hope you like the story. Thank you very much!
