CloverReef got a reaction from Avaloyuru in Sending out a big thanks to everyone who offered suggestions about my writer’s block
Glad you pwned that block! Showed it who’s boss! Made it your bitch? Trying to think of a way to make it sound pervy now but that’s the best I got…

Saiyuki is basically 4 dudes who travel around killing demons and bickering lol. Based on the legend of shangri la. Main char is a buddhist monk who smokes, curses, and uses guns. I still love it even though I’ve moved on from anime. And I like the art style because it’s a little more rough around the edges than most anime I’ve seen. Less pretty, but more emotional, if that makes any sense. Anyway, good luck on rekindling the Bleach fandom on AFF!

I’m positive there’s a lot of Yaoi fans on here, though I’m not sure how active the inuyasha and Bleach fandoms are on AFF. I used to be super into original yaoi manga. Built up quite a collection, (Most of which I had to throw out because I moved across country and had limited packing space, though I kept my favourites) but the only anime I ever really got into writing and reading yaoi in was Saiyuki.

Ah!  Thank you! I’d always seen it attributed to the ever-delightful Terry Pratchett, but I’ll fix this at once, since I like to give proper credit, especially for so accurate an observation.

Read an essay about lesbian lizards. Some species that no longer had males and could still reproduce didn’t need to have sex anymore but did anyway or something.

CloverReef got a reaction from Avaloyuru in I think a break is order. I’m trying to force this story and it is just not working
I find starting a new story as the others suggest can sometimes shake shit loose (Or make you completely abandon that story if you’re anywhere as fickle as I am.) So I’ve found writing short stories when I’m stuck helps. Because short stories are a temporary distraction, they’re less likely to tempt you to abandon your current project. Especially if you kill off all the chars in the short story! lol… But sometimes breaks from writing in general can help too. Or drive you completely insane… Unless you’re already crazy. Then, I guess, drive you completely sane? Oh no!

@Desiderius Price Absolutely. There are a few on my Recommended Reading, and Fav Authors, but that just scratches the surface. I don’t have all my darker favs listed. People won’t sit next to me in the forum if I list those…

I think right now @CloverReef my problem is struggling with developing the suspense yet not giving away too many details, LOL   I’ve already written the outline of the story, I’m just filling it all in.
There is also the self-inflicted added pressure of this being my first story for this site, it will set the pace so to speak for the stories that follow.

Definitely same for me at least. Sometimes the movie in my head gets too far ahead that I totally forget or lose interest in the part I’m writing because I’ve already been through it lol. That’s usually a sign that I should re-plan that scene though because I really shouldn’t lose interest in the events so quickly when I want the reader to be interested!

I think if you’re finding your style changing so quickly that it’s affecting your editing, that’s a good sign. Sure, some changes can be instilling bad habits, but most will likely be learning and finding what works for you. Evolving your writer's intuition. It’s so exciting! Probably frustrating too, but still exciting, lol.

It was a true shock. He had surgery for his Achilles’ tendon. This was a healthy man, who never smoked, was active, ate well, and took care of himself. He was on bed rest for two weeks, and on his second day up, he apparently succumbed to a pulmonary embolism. If you had asked me, I’d never have anticipated such a thing.
I think it’s going to take a while before I actually can get my mind around his being gone. Friends like him are exceedingly rare, and even my daft bugger thought he was one of the good ones.
