So English is not my first language. Even now I'm not sure if anything I say is making any sense.

I was wondering if there's anything wrong with this sentence: "She lay down on her side.". Especially the "on her side" part because it sounds wrong but I know of no good alternative.

Actually, that sounds about right. Specifying on her side may be importan as well, because most people lay down on their backs. Curling up on your side is distinct enough to warrant being mentioned.

Microsoft Word says that's right.... It doesn't look right to me, but lay/laid is one of those things I have trouble with.
