Guest Agaib Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 My girlfriend made the terrible error of forgetting to safely remove her flash drive from my computer today. As a result, her essay has corrupted. It was saved as a .doc format. Any techies out there know how to recover stuff like this? I tried to use Microsoft Office's "Recover Text from Document" function, but it just gave me gibberish. When I open the file normally all I get is a bunch of boxes. About eighty pages of them. Any helpful hints out there? Another note, I have both Office 2003 and 2007 available for use. Quote

DemonGoddess Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 If, by some chance she had the autosave function enabled, look for a file that begins with part of the file name, followed by ~.tmp. That would be the last saved version. Quote
Guest Agaib Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 I never found any backups. I guess it's just dead. Oh well... Quote
