Guest CaedmonCousland Posted August 3 Report Posted August 3 Just want to pitch in that I read this years ago, and was pumped to come across it again. Somehow missed the last few updates. I’m obviously on side of Isara surviving, and hard not to simp for Selvaria even if you’ve done a damn good job of showing the shell-shock facing someone like that would cause and how it would complicate any redemption from her. Otherwise, like the Natalie Hunter OC. Up for trying to write a longer review or offering more suggestions, but rather read quite a lot of this so just wanted to drop a quick response. Quote

Hello, It’s good to hear that there are some who have followed this story for so long. Especially when I tend to have a very sporadic update schedule. Thanks for sticking around this long. I can assure you, missing a few updates is not a real issue-again-given the time in between some of these. It seems Isara living is a very popular idea, a real shame in some regards given I was looking so forward to writing about her death. lol As for Selvaria, I had not realized I put much effort into creating a substantial amount of shell-shock, but I was certainly trying to make the first showdown epic so that there would be something of a tension up until the next time. I think I was only ever asked once to maybe make a redemption arc for her, or at least see about a SevariaxWelkin or harem sort of ending for Welkin. Will either really happen? I’m not sure. My writing is very improvisational, which makes you bringing up Natalie Hunter as the very next thing sort of ironic. See, Natalie was initially an OC I had created to kill off almost immediately. Like Isara, I was looking forward to writing about her death, but the story took me a different direction. Perhaps I ended up liking her too along the journey. Anyways, you mention me doing “a damn good job.” That praise means a lot. As for the length of your reviews, that’s totally up to you. Any legitimate criticism can only help things improve along the way, but I warn that typos and grammar are not likely to improve. Only a really mean editor can potentially change my lack of care there. Concerning suggestions, I recommend laying them down as things continue. While I can’t guarantee every suggestion will come to fruition, they do create ideas. Which help my lack of creativity. Thanks so much for responding on this thread. -JPR Quote

Having Welkin being made a noble for his achievements could also lead to some interesting developments Hello, Live, Isara very well may. A noble!? As in Welkin’s love for Darcsens may catch the affections of a certain princess? Or just in general? Thanks for your suggestions. -JPR Quote
Guest Housecat Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 Glad to see a new chapter up. Some people have suggested a Selvaria redemption arc...? I say let's go off the beaten path and go Imperial Victory path. And with Wilkins, have him be a father to several dozen illegitimate children. And let them speak at the end of this story. Quote

Hello, Yes. I was asked to consider such an outcome or at least give Selvaria a better ending than being completely neglected by Maximilian. I personally had no qualms with the simple idea, but an Imperial Victory? No that’s a bold idea. It certainly makes a lot of sense given the difference in power between Gallia and The East Autocratic Imperial Alliance. Takes me back to when I first launched the game as a wee lad. When the narrator is talking about the Atlantic Federation and the Imperials. Naturally, I assumed I’d be playing as the Federation only for the game to zoom into the tiny Principality. Victory is a long way for either side by this point, let’s see what happens. As for illegitimate children. I’m sure there well be plenty. Thanks for your thoughts, -JPR Quote
Guest RST Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 If you’re looking forward to handling Isara’s death it’s your fic. Stray as far from canon as you see fit to or don’t, that’s up to you. I’m just surprised to see an update so recently since I only just went “I wonder if it updated” and welp there you go lol. Quote

Hello, It has been a long time, especially since the update before this most recent one. Good news is, I’m already working on the next part of Signs of Awakening. So hopefully you won’t have to wait so long to wonder if another update comes around in the future. As I am hoping to have what the remainder of this Report in the archive by the end of the month. As for Isara, though I say my writing is strictly improv most of the time, It’s really the path of least resistance approach. So if canon ends up winning for the sake of simplicity, I will certainly write her death. Unless, it seems simpler to just leave her alive by the time it comes to that point. My creativity will determine that by the end of the day, which is a skill I am lacking. But sometimes, a muse likes to give me a creative spark. Thanks for reading this long, -JPR Quote
JPR Posted September 19 Author Report Posted September 19 Update: Report 3 – A Taste of Home Hello World! I think I said most of what I needed to say to in the original author’s notes on the chapter, but Sometimes just writing here can help explore my thoughts, and of course share them with you. So I’m going to create something of a tentative roadmap for the future of this story so no one thinks I’m just lazing about most my days. News flash, I am. So let’s discuss some of the ideas so far. The one I feel gets brought up a lot is the death of Isara in the original Game and anime. I had, what I thought anyway, a very good idea pertaining to the death of Isara. An idea that would maybe sort of traumatize Welkin in a way, but an Idea I thought I would love to write about. That being said, given that a lot want Isara to live, or at least those that communicate with me would like me to explore that a little, I think I have thought of a way to sort of compromise my idea with a potential “Isara Lives” route. So I’ll try to formulate ideas revolving around that compromise for now. I have mentioned in the past though about the improvisational approach to my writing, and if writing gets in the way of my gaming time too much I may still sway towards the easier Isara dies approach. So I’d put Isara’s chances of living in this fanfic at 50/50. But what about future ideas that are more set in stone? Let’s talk sexy time. In the upcoming chapter, “A Woodland Snare” a WelkinxMarina and a WelkinxAlicia is planned. With a potential Welkin and Audrey Gassenarl hookup as well. By that I mean Welkin is going to give into his inner nature a lot in that chapter. lolz. Probably, in that same chapter, we will get an update on the casualties Squad 7 sustained in the Barious campaign. It’ll be good news for most of those that were wounded, if anyone was wondering. Part 2 of Signs of Awakening will have Alicia hooking up with someone. Most likely an encounter with Faldio. Alicia, in the future will start to lean more towards the Welkin side of sexual wanting when she isn’t putting out for anyone else. This is for the sake of the story. In this most recent update I seemed to have hinted already that Alicia is recognizing Welkin’s more loving and caring side. Selvaria. Probably a big elephant in the room that I have strayed from talking about. In order for it to make any sense if following strictly the game’s progression, Selvaria and Welkin, or anyone for that matter on the Gallian side of the front to hook up with her would have to take place very far into the future. Near the end of the events in the game. In the Anime there is an episode in which Selvaria is disguised as a dignitary at Castle Randgriz to prevent the kidnapping of Princess Cordelia. I’m not 100% sure if I will lean more towards the anime’s events in this chapter, but chances are looking higher as I approach that bit. But even if I do, I’m not sure how I would make that evolve into a sexual encounter between her and Welkin, or whoever on the Gallian side. Ideas are always welcome, but I think that would be the best opportunity if I don’t wait until the end of the events. Also, does Selvaria live through the final flame? That’s a secret. Finally, is there any particular character’s y’all want to see hooking up? Future plans include EmilexFreesia, CezaryxNadine, Aika and Vyse are certainly going to keep exploring the squad to the best of their ability. IsaraxWelkin, Just to name a few. Maybe I could even toss in Leon somewhere, he’s a cool guy. Comments, suggestions and scenarios are all welcome. They they plant ideas in my head, and that’s what this thread is for. That’s all for now, ciao. Quote
