Guest Melissa Posted May 4, 2014 Report Posted May 4, 2014 So, I was reading through a fic I just wrote for errors... when I backed out I was excited when I saw my story had a few hits. Left, went back in, and it added another hit... So every time I open my own fic it counts as a hit. I thought something seemed wrong with that and wasn't sure so I thought to post it here? Quote
DemonGoddess Posted May 4, 2014 Report Posted May 4, 2014 I will bring that to the attention of the tech. If you go to an unread portion of your story, yes it counts as a hit. Quote
Guest Melissa Posted May 5, 2014 Report Posted May 5, 2014 It's only one chapter so the fact that it gets more views is strange. Thank you for letting me know you've seen this! Quote
DemonGoddess Posted May 5, 2014 Report Posted May 5, 2014 What it's supposed to do, is count the hits as they accumulate, when a user clicks the page. This is any user who clicks, including the author. What you're wanting to find out, is the unique visitor count. A hit counter will not give you that. It simply records how many times the thing has been opened. When you click "next" to go to a next chapter, that does NOT count as a hit, as the user is still in the story. Quote
