There was a race of aliens that were tall, colorful, and had designs on their skin. The humans were experimenting on people with these aliens' DNA and they created a few successful experiments. An alien is being held captive in the laboratory, and when his people come for them I think they set the experiments free. It was also an m-preg story, a really good one. I remember them being very colorful too. One of the aliens' leaders didn't like the alien-human hybrids. I think he was trying to kill them. The alien that was in the lab ends up being mated to the human that was kept in the same cage or something. The other humans also find mates.
