NinjaGaijin Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 I was wondering, is it possible to make the search function in the fiction archive universal? To date, the search function is limited in each section of the archive. A search performed in, say, Anime won't give results from Games or Harry Potter. Quote
DemonGoddess Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 That's because each sub domain has a separate subset of tables. So what that means is that the search function will only search the tables related to that particular subdomain. The only table set that is the same throughout the archive is the member table at this point in time. So, the SHORT answer is at this point in time, no, it's not a possibility. HOWEVER, it IS something that's being addressed for later. Quote
AngelicChaos Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 Hello, I was just wonder if you will at some point make it were the surch engen will pic up words, and name less than 4 letters. The resion I subjest this is cause there has been times where I was surching for fics with the name Sai in the descriptions, and the surch engen will not pick anything up. and yes before you ask, I was in the right secjion that would have that name in the description. I have found some manley by digging through the Naruto section, page by page. So I know there out there, but the engion just wont pick them up, in its surch...Which get frustrating after a while... so ya if by some chace you get around to updateing you surch engean, than could you set it up to find words, name and such, less than 4 letters? Thanks, AngelicChaos Quote
DemonGoddess Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 Try doing your search like so.... sai* That will qualify it for four letter. Be sure to check the "boolean search" function as well. In response to whether or not the search engine will allow searches where the character limit is less than four, it won't happen. That kind of searching simply puts too much strain on the hardware framework, not to mention it slows down accessing the database tables for everyone else. Quote
