yaoinessdotcom Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 I was sent an email notification that the story I'm writing was not disclaimed properly, and that I needed written permission from the author of the fanfiction whose idea I was using. I sent a reply, but never got an answer. The original fanfiction, called Dragon Kind (in the Harry Potter threesomes and moresomes section) has an author's note at the end of the page stating that anyone (more than one person) can adopt their fiction as long as let the original author know so that they can direct others to it. Does this count as written permission from the author, or do I have to find another way to contact them and get their permission? I would quite like to continue writing my fanfic. Quote
kagome26isawsome Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 here check these out!: http://www2.adult-fanfiction.org/forum/index.php/topic/3560-what-is-needed-in-a-disclaimer/ and idk about the asking the other author..send an email to apolloimperium or DemonGoddess... Quote
DemonGoddess Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 I've emailed the original author to confirm permissions for you to do this, as that author note is OLD. This is a CYA measure for you, as one should ALWAYS confirm that permissions still apply. Quote
yaoinessdotcom Posted November 20, 2011 Author Report Posted November 20, 2011 Thank you. I apologise for not getting it right the first time, and if the permissions don't still apply, I'm okay with taking the story down. Quote
DemonGoddess Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 Hopefully, the AN is still in force and she's not changed her mind. Quote
yaoinessdotcom Posted November 24, 2011 Author Report Posted November 24, 2011 Have you heard anything back yet? Quote
DemonGoddess Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Nope. However, we'll go with assumed permissions for now, as it's stated in the story to begin with, even though that AN is old. Quote
yaoinessdotcom Posted November 24, 2011 Author Report Posted November 24, 2011 Thank you! I've been looking forward to continuing it. Quote
