If an author deletes a story, is it possible to recover it?

I am a moron when it comes to computers, so this is probably a stupid question...

Recently I deleted several of my stories and have since had a change of heart after some users requested that I put them back up. I would just upload them again, but since I wrote them on site and stupidly never saved any copies for myself, I can't. Can the stories be recovered or am I doomed to rewrite them?

As the archive is powered by a database, how it works is this. You delete the record, the record is gone. No recovery possible.
