FairySlayer Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 These are my replies to your reviews of the Week 7 Challenge Turkey, "Wash Up Before Having Your Turkish Delights" (Two and a Half Men): (Story) (Reviews) Now I'm extremely glad I went with Two and a Half Men instead of my original anime idea. And now I'm taken to Turkey! You guys are imaginative for this prompt Poor Alan! But I'm sure he learned his lesson and will never 'stiff' on tips again! Well, I mentioned the prompt to a friend in another country and he immediately wondered why that country was chosen as the prompt, so I had no choice after that. Turkish baths and Turkish delights seemed like things Charlie would appreciate. Alan did learn relax a little bit in this tale, and that's why the story didn't end with the big fat hairy guy trying to give him a very unhappy "happy ending," compliments of his big brother. This one was pretty hilarious, taking after a lot of the digs and quips you see in the show itself. Loved the twist at the end and *especially* the line about how even a Turkish prison was better than dinner with their mother. You definitely get their brotherly dynamics spot on. And the scene with Alan trying to get on the table and failing was just hilarious, with an exceedingly well-done imagery. You had me in fits at that point. But you still get brownie points for the last two bits of dialogue, that was just awesome. The brotherly dynamic is easy to come up with because the two do it so well. The hard part was trying to make it funny and sound funny in my head: I'm so used to the laugh track that it's hard to trust my own instincts. Still, Alan is physically incapable of doing anything the easy way, so the most-ridiculous way it is. I'm glad you liked it, though it's also good to hear that the jab at Evelyn was a good place to stop. I've seen a few of this series on my friend's satellite TV! I think you have captured the tone of the joking and attitudes really well! Alan's probably releaved there isn't oil being drizzled into his buttcrack by the big guy! Almost a shame it stops just before the porno music starts up, as it were... Ahhh well, good flashfic. Thanks! The show always cracks me up so much. As I mentioned to SK, the thought of Alan's bad fate crossed my mind and I did have enough words left over, but my usual problem is not knowing when to stop. The show's writers are great at layering up the jokes like that, but I decided to play it safe, for this one, anyway. LOL! That was great! Perfect in characterizations. And I lost it with "humping" the marble. Excellent use of alternative Turkey! I'm glad you got a good laugh, and that you found them in-character. Charlie's cool cracks always make me laugh the most. Alan's funny bits in the show are funny but also makes me cringe out of pity: just mentioning him in a story would have filled the "turkey" requirement on its own. Thanks for leaving comments everyone — it's always greatly appreciated. Quote
