xtp10279 Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 (edited) First off, sorry if my username is wrong. My penname is 'Julian Venere'. Author's page: http://hp.adult-fanfiction.org/authors.php?no=1296884797 My one story had about 25 five star ratings, as of a week ago. I checked it today and it has 119 ratings, averaging a two star. So someone has spammed negative ratings on it. It was finished at the end of the June, and has long since fallen off the update page, so I regard it as highly unlikely that an extra hundred readers happened to come across it and all hated it enough to one star it. I noticed that the same thing happened to this fic: http://hp.adult-fanfiction.org/authors.php?no=1296861900 This is an author posting his first fic in the HP section and overnight someone has negatively reviewed it thirty odd times. The same things has happened to stories by SoftObsidian74 and Salon_Kitty. And probably numerous other people, too. I believe this is a serious problem that is going to put off authors. I'm sure it takes guts to post a story for the first time and new contributors won't know this is an exploit. They'll actually think their stories were that hated. If you can do anything to stop it, it would be very appreciated. Edited August 8, 2010 by xtp10279 Quote
DemonGoddess Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 The only thing I can do at this point is to adjust the ratings themselves. There are some other functions, apparently, tied in to the ratings system. So, I have to figure out where to put 'em so they're called like they should be, so I can ultimately ELIMINATE the ratings system. Quote

Adjusting the ratings would be very kind, but only bother with it if it can be done easily. Sounds like you're plenty busy with this problem already. Quote
