solomru Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 Hi. For a while AFF had standard disclaimers for fandoms in the disclaimer section that could be overwritten. If a disclaimer wasn't added, they would go up. Those were perfect disclaimers that said exactly what needed to be said. Why did AFF stop using them? It would save so much moderator time tracking down improper disclaimers as well as authors having to rewrite theirs because something was missing. Just wondering. Thanks. Quote

I'm not a techie so I can't tell you what happened exactly, but I know that with the last few big crashes on the site, that function was lost. I was here as a writer/reader during that time and it was handy, but there were also limitations. With the Misc. Books, Misc anime, and Misc cartoons, sections, it couldn't specifiy the fandom that was needed to make the disclaimer correct. I know there has been some changes, but I don't know how easy, or possible, it would be for our tech team to add that back to the script. I know that out of all the stories that I've ever seen from you, you've always been good about doing your disclaimers. I personally appreciate that, which is why I sent you that small reminder instead of the standard 'please correct your disclaimer' notices. Quote
DemonGoddess Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 The standard disclaimer autofill made a problem with the code itself, to where it destabilized it, as near as we can figure. It had been discontinued long before either manta2g came back, or I came on board. This is, of course, an educated guess, going by the code snippets we had to clean out throughout the scripts to stabilize the program itself a couple years ago. Some of the snippets we removed were definitely PART of that function. Now, we do have something planned to take its place, which will work better. Unfortunately, it won't be implemented for quite awhile yet. Have other things that need to be done first, and are being done. Quote
