  10. Unable to add chapter

    I odn't know where I should post this, so I'll do it here. I just uploaded a new chapter to a story and the site won't recognise it at all. I've done it three times and when I check to make sure the chapter has posted, it hasn't.

    The story is in HP. It is called "The Spoils of War". The site URL is http://hp.adult-fanfiction.org/story.php?no=600094766. I don't know what's going on, but I haven't had this problem before.

    Well I don't know if you've ever seen or read Stardust, but I'd like to see a Stardust crossover. That would make for an interesting Threesome.

    I would love to see a dark fic that is cannon up to the point where Harry kills Voldemort. In the scenario Voldemort won and Harry is believed dead (Narcissa is dead too, I don't really like stories where Lucius cheats on her in any manner.) Hermione is captured by Lucius, who is not as horrible as she's believed, though still an elitist and quite the terrifying person when angered. I believe you can write him in character while giving him a softer side that she hasn't seen before. Lucius seems to have no interest in Hermione sexually, but if you want he can require sex of her as payment for keeping her safe. She finds out that he has a secret guest after a time and the secret guest, of course, is Snape who is gravely ill from his wounds at the hands of the Dark Lord, but still alive.

    For whatever reason, Voldemort has gone completely off the deep end and is holding all the DE's children hostage. Lucius is desperate to save Draco and he enlists Hermione's aid to do this. Over the course of time, she starts to have feelings for Lucius, even while she is sleeping with and falling in love with Snape. She comes to find out that Lucius and Severus have been lovers for years, and this intrigues her.

    The plot should consist of a great deal of sexual tension leading up to the moment when the three get together, and should also have more than a bit of intrigue an danger.

    I hope this is what you were looking for. I would love to read it, but don't have the guts to do a threesome story yet myself.

    When I'm trolling AFF and I come across anything in the summary that looks even remotely similar to "canon x OC" as the main pairing I automatically assume that the writer of the fic has elected to Mary Sue herself into the canonverse. Oh Lord, spare us! Then I check to see how many reviews there are, and I am NEVER surprised when there's a big fat honking goose-egg there.

    See, here's the thing: it isn't as though I can read a fic with a Mary Sue OC and pretend that character is me if the character was fashioned after the writer (or anyone the writer knows, for that matter). If she had written a fic with a "canon x canon" main pairing using characters that she most identified with and then made them OOC, that's one thing; I'll read the fic and never know the difference. But I will never be able to relate to an OC in a "canon x OC" main pairing fanfic (unless I know the writer well, which I don't 99% of the time). They are not part of the canonverse. And frankly, if a writer needs to insert herself as a character into a fic then why doesn't she write an original fic? To me, inserting herself into someone else's canonverse is an indication of a distinct and utterly disappointing lack of imagination.

    Writing a Mary Sue OC into canonverse in a fanfic is fine with me. Publishing it, however, is another matter. Publishing it and then expecting the same feedback that a writer receives from a fic with a "canon x canon" main pairing? Come on, give me a break...

    I write a great many OC's in my fics and have NEVER written a Mary Sue. To make such a generalization is not only ignorant but offensive. There are many good writers out there looking for an audience and fanfiction is one way they find them. In the fandom in which I write, there is a dearth of female characters of a certain age. There is little choice but to bring in an OC, otherwise a writer ends up producing nothing but Lolita stories or post end of series stories. Sometimes those don't work.

    As for the low number of reviews, maybe the number is low because too many people view fanfics like you do, and disregard OC stories without giving them a chance. I'm not trying to be offensive, just pointing out the error in your logic.

    My rule for OC's is there has to be a reason for them to be in the plot. They can't just suddenly show up and be accepted by all and sundry because the writer wants them to.

    I read the site’s requirements for making an new pairing search or whatever it’s called, and it said that you had to have 10 examples of the pairing before it would be considered. I am writing to ask that you put the Severus Snape/OC section back into the archives search things. It would even be nice if you just had an OC section. I like reading Original characters with Severus Snape, and it is exceedingly difficult to search through the entire general section to find them.

    all i have to say is that it sucks somebody has the free time to continuously bomb a site like this, particularly when they are supposed to be an adult.

    however, thank you so much for quickly, and promptly deleting all of the spam. and i do mean, all of it. if i remember there were over two thousand stories posted between five names, yes? so, great job getting it taken care of as quickly as you could.

    that it happened is frustrating, but that you took care of it is a great relief.

    That's just insane, five names and over two thousand entries?!? Merry Christmas. HA!

    This is Ezriee, I'm one of the mods and I've seen the reports in the TOS mail as well as the stories. Currently, there are nearly 2,000 stories that these two...I really don't know what to call them since I'm so angry, THINGS, I guess, have posted to the site. There's not much I can do because I'm a moderator and not an admin, but I am about to send emails to the admins to inform them of whats going on so we can try an take care of it as soon as possible.

    I feel your anger, all of you because I was just on the site earlier today reading fics and there was nothing wrong. Some little rat bastard has nothing better to do than to do something as childish as this.

    PLEASE be patient. There are only a handful of us total who are helping out on adult-fanfiction.org. With the holidays, the number of people available is even smaller.

    dammit. this one was an anonymous reviewer, which really limits what can be done about it at this point. If, at any time, you've come across this same person logged in leaving this crap, get me the information right away. Then I can do something more than just cleaning up the review board. :(

    Thanks for the removal. I didn't figure much could be done, but at least no one has to read that person's poorly laid out opinion and inane suppositions. What a jerk. :)

    I have read a story on aff: All That you Leave Behind by The Queens of Angst.

    They had a reviewer who became increasingly irate about the way the story was written, completely disregarding site policies about abuse. They ended thier series of reviews with a tirade aimed directly at the authors of the piece using foul language in the body of the review..

    The series of reviews was done anonymously so I have no link to their profile.

    The offensive review(s) are about the last five or six posted before the one posted by me to refute the idiot.

    I spoke to the authors and they did not want to report the person, but I felt it needed to be done to stop them from doing it to another author.

    I'm not sure what you can do about the person, but I thought you would need to be made aware of the problem.

    I respectfully suggest you are full of yourself. I read all types of romances. That is why we are here, isn't it? I even write Het romances. My stories are all about the relationship and how the women and men add to it. There is no element of salvation other than the ones that the characters do for themselves.

    To say in general terms that all het stories are PWP and all yaoi/slash stories are not is just a gross stereotype. I have read many a slash story that started out as a really good character study, but ended up with every chapter having a sex scene. The plot went out the window once the characters consummated their relationship.

    I say, give me a good story with a good plot anytime, but don't inundate me with sexual images to make up for lack of substance, whether the genre is het or slash.

    If she can access it through her author panel, and I bet she can, she needs to correct her disclaimer.

    I have a similar situation, and my disclaimer was right. I have attempted to contact admins through the forum, by email and in this thread, and have even contacted the owner of the site. I corrected my disclaimer the night before it was taken down. The story is Life in an Alien Land my penname is tambrathegreat. It has been a week and this matter is still unresolved. Please contact me and let me know what is going on with that story.

    This is a new story written in response to GryffindorClutz' challenge. The challenge is as follows: 1: Hermione has to be shared by Lucius and Draco and have Lucius' baby first. 2:Draco has to be slightly deranged and more than a little obsessed. 3: Draco has to have a breastfeeding fetish.

    Hermione is taken by Death Eaters after Ron betrays her. She is given to Lucius and Draco Malfoy to use as a breeder, because the war has diminished the wizarding population. The story contains dubious consent, fetishes, slavery, and pregnancy. It is meant to be disturbing and fairly dark.
