Okay, as long as it is alright to just show the year I am fine with that option too. I was just a bit uncomfortable about publically placing the day and month too, since a friend of mine had a really bad experience with it. And it took her ages to prove she wasn't the person who used her personal info. I mean whether it says your age or birthyear is pretty much the same thing, so that isn't such a big issue I think. I'll go edit my profile their to that straight away. Thanks for the info. And it must be quite some work for you to check the links with every new user. (wipes forehead about not having to do that, because I am naturally born lazy. B) ).

Oh, is this still something that happens? My stories are posted in a category that isn't very big, so I didn't notice that editing your story bumped it back up to the top of the list, since I have never seen a change when I edited the story to the position of the story. Since English isn't my native language I often reread the story on the site after I posted it immidiately to find things I missed in Word, because reading it in a different format helps me find some errors I read over in my original document, and then I edit it, pressing said button, checking again, pressing said button, etc. I never really noticed it changed the place my story was listed, but if this still is what happens I'd liked to know, so I don't annoy people or violate the TOS unwillingly.

Perhaps you should add a special section for those searching for fics?? ROFL. Or refer them to google or another search engine.

In the author-profiles beside the forum (fanfic-section) the actual birthday still is displayed. I deleted my birthday in that section, because I read you can connect both accounts of the forum and the fanficwriting section, so you already have an official record of my real birthday. But not everyone also registers to the forum. And they would then need to display their birthdate publically, if they don't want their account removed, if I understood your announcement about the need to register your birthday correctly. So, I wonder is this going to be changed to displaying the age only in that section too? Since that section is much more public than the forum and it is relatively easy for people to use your birthdate information for identity-theft or worse. Thanks for your time, Nerys

Hmmm... I am a bit dubious about it. I understand that she wants to protect her copyright. And she wasn't opposed to the Harry Potter lexicon online, but it was the encyclopedia they plan on publishing as a book that she opposes. She also gave them the option first to make some alterations that would have protected her copyright and made it possible for them to print their version anyway, so she wouldn't sue them then, but they chose to not make those alterations. Her own HP-encyclopedia isn't going to be published for her gain, but it is going to be a charity book like Quidditch throughout the ages and Fantastic beast... so I think she is also keeping those charities in mind. Although I personally think that the fans will probably have bought both the lexicon version and hers just the same. I do hope that this lawsuit won't mean that the HP-lexicon will dissappear online now as well, since I often use it as a quick reference if I can't remember something by heart in my fanfic. I also hate the fact that the lexicon lawyers are using the fact that JKR didn't oppose internet infringements of her copyright as an argument in their suit, since it could mean that all those fans out there. who just enjoy to play around with the world she created for no money at all, could become victims to this lawsuit as well. I have to say if their is someone who deserves the term I want to make money of someone else's idea it is the owner of the site and the publishing company of the lexicon encyclopedia and not so much JKR, because let's be frank... if there is someone who will have enough to last her a lifetime... XD

OK, just to let you all know... it worked. I got my chapter posted as a whole just a few minutes ago. I tried to redo it last night, but it wouldn't work then. So maybe that time out, you suggested, had something to do with it... or the amount of traffic on the net... or my own clumsiness (which is the most likely; LOL)? Hi, Thanks for replying to my question. The strangest thing was that in the edit chapter section the text appeared normal and the entire chapter was visible there. But when I went on to check how the chapter was posted on the site, I noticed that a substantial part was missing. So I don't know if it can still be the connection under those circumstances (even though I live in the Netherlands, so we're most likely looking at a satellite connection here). At least now I know it is not the word count, so I don't have to take that into account with future chapters. I'll try reposting it again. And I'll let you know how it went. Thanks once more. Nerys

I am sorry if this is mentioned somewhere else, but I searched a long time and couldn't find it. I have a question concerning how long the chapters can be when you want to post them on AFF. I tried uploading a chapter today and it only posted half of it (wordcount around 9000). Now, I have edited it by splitting the chapter in half, but the strangest thing is that I can't seem to split the chapter at a more convenient point (it was automatically done in the middle of a dialogue). And since I rather avoid this in the future I'd like to know if you can tell me what the maximum wordcount is per chapter, so I can edit the text in advance. Thanks for your time.
