Thou shalt not pimp your fics and/or your friends' fics in the review. Please don't comment just to tell someone to go read something else. That in no way tells what you did or didn't like about the author's story.
Thou shalt not threaten/annoy authors in an effort to get them to update sooner. Really. You wouldn't believe the stuff people do when they want an update.
I agree with greenwizard about the simple reviews, just a sentence or two telling me what did or didn't suck (without being rude or hateful of course) is plenty for me.

Hm... I don't really have any limits either. :/ Nothing really squicks me so I"ll read anything if it's thought out and well written and I'll write about anything as long as I feel like I have a point to make and a story to tell. The only thing I think I probably wouldn't write is bestiality and not because of the subject matter but because I need to tell some kind of story and not have a fic that's just controversial for the sake of controversy or kinky for the sake of kink. But If I suddenly figured out a way to write an angsty, gripping, drama filled love story between Sasuke and, like, his ninja cats or something I'd write that shit in a second.

There are other yaoi pairings besides Naruto/Sasuke, Kakashi/Iruka, and Itachi/Sasuke! Let's show them some love too.
Now, I think that some slightly less popular pairings would be Neji/Gaara, Lee/Gaara, and Naruto/Gaara... Geez Gaara, stop being a man whore! lol (is just kidding. i love my Gaa-kun!)
So, aside from all of those, these are some yaoi pairings that I like:
My otp is Kankuro/Kiba! They just work really well together and I'm in the process of planing a 10 chapter fic ^.^ Kankuro just has to be the seme. I also see Kiba as a seme as well, so they either have to switch, or Kiba just has to take it
I also don't mind Kankuro/Shino, but I haven't gotten into it that much. Shikamaru/Kankuro is good and so is Shikamaru/Kiba... I saw a picture of Sasuke/Shikamaru so that's got me thinkin' too lol. Gaara/Kankuro... Sancest rules! (note: I love Kankuro... but he's not my favorite)
Sasori/Diedara for the Akatsuki love! Sasori is so awesome.

And the sandcest! I look forward to your Kankuro/Kiba fic, it's hard to find muti-chapter fics about those two. -

I know a lot of people are in different time zones and probably already issed it sadly, but for those of you still waiting for the sun to set! It starts at 7:01 Standard Pacific Time, 10:01 Standard Eastern Time, 9:01 Standard Central Time, and 8:01 Mountain Time! Obviously this is for the US... So anyone in North America, go watch it!!!

Feedback: I really really would love some constructive crit for this fic's plot line and pacing. I like what I have so far, but I just feell like I must be doing something wrong, as it's my first and only multi-chapter fic and I'm getting fewer reviews than I'd expect from my experience with my oneshots. Any feedback would be appreciated, but I'm not looking to be an entitlement whore. I just want some real crit! Tough love!

If I have to read about one more "weeping member" or tongues "battling for dominance" I'm going to lose it. Not so much that it's a turn off it's just SO overdone. Once or twice in a fic is fine but six times in one chapter is a bit much.

Yes, because the art of writing well is technique, not content.
As a teacher, I've read hundreds of badly-written original works (and a few badly-written plagiarized ones
).I've also read a few pieces of fanfiction that are stunning.
However, fanfiction is amateur fiction, and as in amateur golf, watercolors, or anything else, the spectrum of ability among amateurs is going to be a much wider range than among professionals who make a living off of that skill or art.
Very nicely put and I agree completely. It reminds me of the arguments artists have over whether fan art is true art or if digital art is true art. Content is important is important but creativity and presentation is what it's really about.
