Harry/Luna Sibling fic featuring a supportive im-too-old-for-this-shit-anymore Grandpa Dumbledore and the most deluded Phoenix to ever exist

During his second year, Harry, fed up with the whole “Heir of Slytherin” nonsense following him around takes his invisibility cloak and goes for a midnight stroll to try and clear and his head only to bump into a very unusual sight of a first year ravenclaw wandering around in her underwear & what appears to be bargaining with Fawkes over how many times a day she can brush his feathers, leading him to go see if she needed any help

he encounters her several more times that week almost always in the same circumstances leading them to talk more and gradually grow closer, upon learning of the several similarities they have faced and even the ones they now share at Hogwarts with the people around never truly seeing them for who they are, only who & what they want to see, with several smartass intejections from Fawkes they both slowly come to question why they should care about everyone else’s views on what they should be

eventually Luna confides him the truth about her treatment at the hands of her housemates and fellow students along with her struggle to provide a somewhat stable home life for her Father who never recovered mentally from losing her mother, this in turn leads him to open up about his own home life and the abuse he suffers at the hand of the dursleys along with the constant hate/love/hate treatment he receives from the wizarding world

unknown to either of them at the time, Albus Dumbledore listens in on their talk, after being alerted by one of the paintings that an underage girl was locked out of her dorm in her underwear and being followed by what seemed to be a very angry male student he had immediately come rushing to the scene desperately hoping it was not what it sounded like, after hearing both of them speak though he decides to come forward and to the surprise of them opens up about his own past with his sister and his lover Gellert, together they openly recognize the sad truth that they are all in the same boat as for how the rest of the Magical World views them

That night leads to several changes in both Harry and Luna’s outlook on their schoolmates and wizarding society as a whole as he holds her while she cries herself to sleep and a tired & weary Dumbledore watches over them vowing to do better for them both, starting with moving Harry away from the Dursleys

This rapidly developing friendship causes him to become increasingly protective of Luna even going so far as to publicly ask one group of ravenclaws if they believed he was behind the attacks, upon answering yes they did, Harry surprises everyone by then asking that if that was true then they should really be more careful about going after someone he obviously cares about or who knows what might happen to them, it is a pretty big castle afterall and there are lots of accidents that are just waiting to happen

near the end of the year Harry slips up in a conversation with Luna, accidentally calling her his “Little Sister”, a stunned Luna asks if he really felt that way about her only to pounce on him when he admits that yes he does, Dumbledore asks the pair if they would like to become a pair of actual siblings in the eyes of the Law and Magic, after a few moments consideration they both agree.with Luna demanding to be called his Imouto from now on

over the summer break of that year they use a blood adoption potion from Dumbledore who oversees the rituals that will bind them together as true brother and sister both magically and biologically, at some point Harry confesses to Luna that he thinks he might be gay upon which Luna vows to get him laid before graduating Hogwarts,

from that point onwards its up to the writer whether to follow canon or to change it entirely as Harry and Luna essentially tell the laws of the multi’verse to go bugger themselves while Dumbledore sits back with a bag of lemon drops and a self-replenishing bottle of Firewhiskey after discovering he cant find it in himself to truly give a damn about the sheep of the world anymore, meanwhile Fawkes declares Vengeance against all those who sought to harm his Chosen One, a title held by the young Blonde bringer of the ambrosia known to the world as Alcohol-Soaked Fruits & Magnificent Feather Brushing
