  1. For those looking for the story or curious about the story, start here. Tags are as so: Anal, Beast, Language, M/F, N/C, OC, Oral, SoloF, WIP I'd also like to note that I'm aware of the tense changes throughout the story. I don't intend to return to prior chapters to fix these. Any minor and major editing has already been done as of January 15th. I was also prompted to delete any review-based replies of my own and encouraged to start a topic here. After some procrastination, here we are. I intend to take up the story again after nearly two years and work on completing it. Due to outside obligations, chapters will not be delivered as quickly as they were when I first started working on the fic. Expect a chapter every three to four weeks. Feel free to discuss the fic, criticize/praise, ask questions, suggest pairings, etc. To start, I'd like to address recent reviews (2010 - 2011). I'm not entirely sure. It was quite some time ago when I saw the fic' date=' so major details escape me. I'm pleased to hear that you enjoy the story. More chapters to come, of course! I'll answer that for you: I retconned that chapter because I realized that I wasn't entirely happy with its outcome. I liked the chapter itself, but I didn't think it made sense. Also, having sat on it for nearly two years, I realized that the ending that I had originally planned for that part of Nick's life was abrupt, unoriginal and boring. Nick's sudden appearance in Cinnabar is due simply to a short coma induced by the end of chapter twelve. I've also juggled the idea of giving him a Turtwig, anyway, despite the story not happening. Still haven't figured out a way to tie it in, so it probably won't happen. I hope that answers your questions, and I hope you'll continue to read the story!
  2. Personally, I consider every hit on a story as someone who's masturbated to my stories. So I've managed to get 20,000 faps so far. Woo! That always helps me feel better. ;P
  3. I know I'm guilty of this myself, but hey. I put sex in nearly every single one of the chapters I've written, and I tell the reader when they reach the chapters that don't have sex. It's all you can do, really, because it caters to the two types of people that visit AFF: the ones there for the writing, and the ones there for the smut. I know there've been more than a few times where I find a promising story and I'm flipping through seven, eight chapters looking for the smut before I finally give up. I prefer to offer the courtesy of differentiating which chapters have sex and which ones don't. But I digress. I've already submitted my comments on the original topic, I just felt like talking about that when I saw it.
  4. I've seen this more than I care to have seen in my lifetime as a writer. Personally, even if I like the setting, the pairing, even if everything all kind of lines up perfectly.. I still critique it. I point out what I felt the story's weakest points were. That's just me, of course. For the most part, however, I generally disregard glowing, positive reviews for a bad story as the person's closest friends, group members or even themselves. For all the critique a bad story deserves, equal praise should be offered simply for the effort and bravery of putting their story in the line of fire, so to speak.
  5. Personally, if that's the way you'd intended to end the story, it may have been in your best interests to tie up those loose ends when you had the chance. In this case, however, if you feel the story's ended, then it's best you just let it be and start something else. I think in your case, you're just having remorse over ending a story you liked writing and you want a return to it justified. Just do what you feel like you'd be happiest doing, but don't continue if you feel like it might make the fans of your story feel ripped off. That's my suggestion, anyway.
  6. Let's hope you're right. The forums are more interesting when they're active.
  7. Well, I'm not worried about the website. I don't see that disappearing. But with such little interest here on the forums, it seems.. well.. you do the math. >_>
  8. I remember poking in here a year ago and this place was very much alive.. and I mean the entire forums in general. Now there's barely any activity. Is this normal? Did I miss something? Hopefully this is in the right place. I figured this was fairly aimless. Just seems like there should be so much more activity, yet every place I've poked my head in so far has topics near the top that're a month to two months old. Challenges/requests is damn near empty, and.. it just seems like the place has really gone downhill. Should I be concerned?
  9. I don't feel that's very fair. Having reviews gives you vital feedback. I agree that people shouldn't hold their breath until they get the reviews they want, but to say that people shouldn't write if that's all they're there for is terribly presumptuous. For example, I love hearing from people who review my work, good or bad. It lets me know what I'm strongest in and what I'm weakest in. It lets me know who's interested and how far that interest goes. Several of my stories don't have reviews, but that's hardly a surprise, since one's tucked in the dark recesses of the FFXI subcatagory, and the other one is a hetero pairing in the One Piece section, which sunk like a lead weight amongst the constant deluge of slash that floods that area. Anyway, I have only myself to blame for those two, but I digress. Reviews tell me what I need to improve on, and how I can better serve my audience. Because, when you get right down to it, no-one's going to read my smut that's wearing a monocle, sipping tea and wearing a robe infront of a lit fireplace, saying 'Oh, my word!' several times a chapter. Most people don't log onto AFF for the quality of the material, but for those of us here to 'broaden our horizons', so to speak, it's nice to have reviews to let us know how we're doing. So I suppose in that vein, not having any reviews says volumes, as well.
  10. Hello! I'm Kavin. Not much else to say there. I've written fanfiction off and on for a long time now, and I just felt like poking on here and adding my intro.
  11. I have to admit that the premise of this type of fic baffles me slightly. I don't recall anywhere that Veela 'infect' people, not especially from the books. They cause inexplicable attraction from the opposite sex, sure, but who came up with the idea that Veela could 'infect' people. Have I missed something here? Is this something people randomly came up with?
