  1. I haven't seen this fic for at least the past year & alas, I cannot remember the author's name. Even if it's been discontinued or taken off the site, I just want to know what happened to it because it was a really fabulous story. There was a completed Part 1 & last time I read it Part 2 was still a WIP. The story is about a pro tennis (I think it was tennis... could have been some other sport though) that had a male tutor as a child. The tutor was very pale, had long black hair & was odd. Supernatural. The tennis player grows up & crosses paths with him again in China. They start a "relationship" that ultimately fails. He finds out that this tutor/mentor is a fairy-like creature. The term fairy is never used but that's as close as I can get to describing the type of being he is. His features are actually a "glamour" -- his real body is covered in horrible scars from a big battle that he was in centuries ago. His voice was damaged too. I forget exactly how it all came about but there was some type of interference with another "fairy" that had previously had a serious, long relationship with the black-haired guy -- they were actually related in some way. And the black-haired guy became seriously ill and was in a hospital. That was book one. Book 2 was basically the back story between the black-haired guy and his former lover. All through book one, the lover comes off as a total a**hole but after reading more of book two you start to see their history & feel a bit more sympathetic towards him. ... and that's all I can come up with off the top of my head. Hoping someone can help me out??? I think the author's pen name was one word... maybe starting with a vowel??. Thanks in advance!
  2. Wow... so empty :)

In case you appear here someday - hi :D

    I Am...

I am happy that I got called to work today. I am searching for a new message board to become hopelessly addicted to. I am hungry but know that I'll just beat myself up all night if I eat anything else.
  4. I am a huge music person... beautiful lyrics with beautiful music behind it is a huge inspiration to my writing, so when I'm a bit stumped or just lost the vibe, I try to listen to more music -- especially that or artists who are particularly good songwriters. I also go to some challenge groups on livejournal (or similar sites) and just force myself to write. Something short, something complete off-topic and something that I don't have to imagine up myself. There's one place in particular that your fic can only be 500 words max, and the first line is always provided for you (you have to base the entire story off of an already provided sentence). I find that it helps because it's not that I don't WANT to write, it's that I can't... so being away from writing itself just makes it that much worse. So this way, I'm still writing but it's kind of "mindless", if you will. If that makes any sense at all!
  5. First - my apologies if this topic's already been done. I didn't see a similar one, then again, I have to admit that I didn't really look that hard. Up until this point, I have always written off the cuff. Whenever I get the bug, I just go with it. It's worked for me, but I've noticed that I end up losing some REALLY good plot lines because I can't write enough to get to that specific turn in the plot when I think of it, and by the time I do get there, I've forgotten it. At long last I think I've come up with a winner of a story. An original story. Up until now I've only written cliched, immature fan fics that I hate... but I have some devoted readers that I can't bear to disappoint. So I want to do this the right way. The entire plot is up in my head and I want to get it all down before I jump in and forget about it! How do you plan for writing? Does anyone really outline anymore? I'm the outlining QUEEN, but only in my history classes. I tried a preliminary outline of my story, but for some inexplicable reason, doing it caused me to lose that passion that I had for writing it. It's too clinical for me... I've always been the kind to just let the story develop on my computer screen.
  6. Oh my gosh, I can't believe no one's mentioned In The Company Of Shadows by Sonny and Ais Creations. My absolute favorite although it's nearing the end which is making me more than a bit sad. Very, very, very Honorable Mentions: Lord Emperor Series by Kiix Blood Oranges by orbiting jupiter Reach by brilliantbean Once a Slave by Katica Locke If I Knew Then by BlackOpal Gravity of Love by peccavi
  7. I really love the Sex/Claudius dynamic (my vote went to Claudius, btw!) right now especially, although I've always loved that pairing the best out of all of them. However, it scares me! I like them together so much that I'm so afraid something bad's going to happen to their relationship.
  8. I have always written in first person - or at least, lately. I seem to remember writing in third person when I was younger, then I stopped writing altogether for a number of years and now that I'm back at it, it's first person, all the time. I don't particularly like writing in first person though. I seem to have this warped (or at least, highly critical) concept of "quality" and to me, first person just seems rather childish. "Real" writers write in third person... at least that's what my brain tells me. I just haven't been able to convey emotions and thoughts properly in third person as well as I can in first. I also tend to include a lot of sarcasm in my fics. For as hard as I try to make things serious when they need to be, I can't help but throwing in some kind of sarcastic remark. It just comes natural to me! P.S. - long time fic reader, first time poster here... I didn't see an Introduction Thread, so I'll just say hi here. Hello everyone! Lol, sorry. Just felt weird to up and post without even saying anything...
