I know with many authors, the chapter ends whenever the author believes it to be done, but my question is, what do readers prefer? Personally, I can't stand super short chapters, anything less than 1,000, really, because it feels rushed or that it hasn't gone anywhere. I generally write about 2,000 to 3,000 word stories, and recently got a review that, although saying they loved my story, the chapters were too short. I know its personal preference for some people, but I also know that longer chapters can get overbearing. I've read some stories with chapters with up to 30,000 words, which I won't complain about, other than the fact that if I somehow manage to screw up when I'm scrolling down (which, surprisingly, happens a lot) I tend to lose my place. Like, right now, I'm working on a new story, and the first chapter is shy of 3,000. With the way I write, it's usually not hard for me to keep it going to make it feel a little more filled out, but I also don't want to write to the extent of overbearing. Anyway, back on topic, how long, as a reader, do you prefer your chapters?

It was updated a couple of weeks ago, I don't remember the title, but i think is said something about the story being in a 2nd POV. For info- the story is in a 2nd POV, about two men that live together. A brazillion boy and a Lawyer. Well, they've been together for so many months, but haven't done anything, because there's a problem with the lawyer, who has to see a doctor. I think it said something about him being autistic. The boy almost leaves him because he doesn't know any of this, and thinks that the doctor is a woman that the Lawyer is cheating on him with. Finally everything gets figured out, and the boy sort of tries to push him into getting physcial contact, even though it makes him feel guilty because of the Lawyer freaking out. Then the Lawyer sees the boy with another guy, and gets the wrong idea, and basically forces himself to get closer to the boy. They finally end up in the shower, with the lawyer letting certain things happen. If anyone could help and give me a link, I'd very much appreciate it

I'm new to beta world, but very willing to do so, with a dictionary and thesaurus at my disposal. I will beta M/M originals, though not N/C stories or ones with descriptive hetero sex. I'm also not fond of Minor, to the point of anyone under the age of 15, necrophilia, or prostitution. My strengths are spelling and punctuation, I can almost consider myself a perfectionist when it comes to spelling, and I spot it quite easily. I can also help straighten out a 'just not right' sentence, and can give considerably good ideas if the mood strikes. I also seem to spot odd things, like inconsistancies that happen thirty chapters apart. My weaknesses are mainly tenses. I will not touch those. I will not write your story for you. I'd prefer you to look over it to make sure that any tweaks that I do make are to your liking, but please, if two men are having sex, please, please, please don't have impossible motions, or at least don't get mad if I mention about changing it to something more... plausible. I can't remember the name. It's complete. It's about two friends that are sleeping together, and it's got a little bit of kink in it, like one of the boy practically suffocates the other for about two minutes. The bottom starts liking the top, but thinks he's sleeping with other people, so he sugests condoms, but when he does, the top accuses him of sleeping around, and they get all mad at each other until they figure things out, and i think they start a real relationship.
