Im looking for a story that started with a young man leaving his small village with friends and he somehow ends up stranded. I don’t remember if he ends up being attacked by something, but he is saved by a man on a horse and brought back to this man’s castle. The man is very quiet and the castle grounds are very barren and gray. The young man regains his health and starts fixing up the gardens, and I’m pretty sure it focuses on some type of well or fountain fixture that is cursed or something? The two main characters spend a lot of time reading together. The land is raided and the group flees to meet up with the man’s brothers. There’s a large war breaking out to defend against an invading force. Ive searched a lot but cannot seem to find it. Any help would be great Quote
