Agreed.  I appreciate the emphasis on ADULT here, not just in content but behavior.  

Yeah,I’m not a fan of high-handed moderation. We do leave a warning for disclaimers, or email about other issues, and unless it’s something potentially fraught (like missing tags which can be traumatic), we give 7 days before we hide. The we allow at least another 30 days, and to be honest, it’s often more like 45-60 days before we delete for noncompliance.
And if a member comes to us and says they’re trying to fix something, but are having issues, we help them.That’s part of the job, too. I’d rather spend time helping someone than warning anyway. And I love answering questions when people aren’t sure, but want to get it right. That’s never any trouble for me, at all. Best part of the job!

Dear gods, Melrick. All my kidding aside, that’s just brutal.I saw the news via my Twitter feed, and I was immediately worried about you and your mum. As cold as it is here, I just add layers, but you simply can’t remove enough to get cool in those temperatures.
The unfortunate thing is governments often talk about heating or cooling centers, but they never work out how people are supposed to get to them in seriously dangerous weather, do they?

Ah, of course. I’ve been trying not to let myself get upset over all of this. Frankly, I think Trump has done more to dishonor the flag, the anthem and this country than any athlete expressing his opinion as is his right. But Trump TALKED during the moment of silence for 9-11. The people I knew who died that day deserve better.
 

Agreed.  Those who fought for anyone’s right to disrespect the flag and anthem deserve the respect of having them stand up, in public, and do so.  My issue is more with the fact that they hid.  IN a tunnel.  If someone feels strongly enough that they have to take a knee, by all means do so.  But do it where the world can see.

Hey, 500 is progress!

Agree with all… but a political angle occurred to me. With Tyrion as Daenerys’ Hand, and Jaime having marched off to take his men north to fight the army of the dead. The “Lannisters” are actually with Daenerys. Cersei is now isolated in King’s Landing, and has lost the authority conferred by ‘family’ in facts on the ground as they stand.
Also, there’s this “I can’t have children” thing that is going to turn out to be a load of rubbish. Because any author who’s gone to all the trouble of having the recurring motif of incest > insanity, and of setting up Snow and Daenerys in such a fashion, fully intends to have that play out all over again (if nothing changes).

I can’t believe we have to wait 2 years for the next season …  Bran finally got interesting but dammit man, take control of that dragon and ice the Night King already.

It’s one of those awful stories you hear, and hope never happens to you. My original publishers were awesome, but they were also writers and wanted to focus on that rather than on publishing. They sold the press to their general manager, who proceeded, along with her new wife, to steal royalties which should have been in escrow for the authors who earned them. The shell game finally fell apart when they couldn’t pay their biggest names, including the original owners, who were owed thousands of dollars. There was felony check fraud, lies galore, and in the end, we all had to fight to get our rights reverted.
In the end, I don’t think I lost a lot of money. What I did lose was my confidence, and it took a lot for me to send out my book again. I’m thrilled that I did, though, since NSP offered me a seriously professional contract, and I really like their style. So, stay tuned for the expanded and even better version of Ghost’s Sight.

Of course, because this is a far more professional group, they want the second book to review, and are asking about the third book already. I’m flashing on the Oglaf comic about the muse...

Yeah, my friends who’ve seen/read both say that they're both great for differing reasons and the series is good in its own right. I’ll just box set and binge. And keep grumbling ‘til Winds of Winter comes out.
